ERIC R. WILEN is an attorney in Naperville, where his practice is focused on representing small and family-owned businesses and high-net-worth families in the areas of estate planning, business succession planning, wealth transfer planning, corporate governance and asset protection planning. Mr. Wilen is an expert on drafting wills, trusts, LLC and partnership agreements, and non-judicial settlement agreements. He also often acts as a general business counsel for start-up entrepreneurs, as well as established small businesses with leases, contracts, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and employment matters. His extensive tax background provides clients with an opportunity to develop and implement customized business succession and wealth transfer plans to preserve the founder’s legacy for future generations. Mr. Wilen obtained his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and his Juris Doctorate degree, cum laude, from Detroit College of Law (which is now known as the Michigan State University College of Law). Mr. Wilen also pursued graduate legal studies at the New York University School of Law, receiving an LL.M. degree in taxation.
