COURTNEY DAVIS POWELL is an attorney with Spencer Fane LLP. Her primary focus is on litigation matters. She helps clients resolve disputes so that they may focus their energies on other matters. She is skilled at uncovering the issues and facts in a case, developing a strategic plan and crafting a story to achieve the desired results. Her practice is wide ranging, including business litigation, employment law and constitutional law. In addition, Ms. Davis Powell works closely with business clients in virtually all areas of employment law, including non-compete agreements, Fair Labor Standards Act, civil rights litigation, state and federal litigation, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission issues, employer investigations and employment contract disputes. Mr. Gibson earned his B.A. degree and J.D. degree, with honors, from the University of Oklahoma. J. MICHELLE KILLINGSWORTH MBA, PHR has more than 17 years of experience in the fields of banking, retail, restaurant, call centers and manufacturing. She has led all the human resources functional areas directly for the past 13 years. Ms. Killingsworth has proven herself as a leader with the ability to develop a team of HR business partners to deliver company goals and objectives. She currently is the director of human resources for Century Martial Arts, a global leader in the manufacturing and distribution of martial arts equipment. Century Martial Arts is based in Midwest City, Oklahoma, in a 650,000 square feet distribution and manufacturing facility, and employs over 250 full-time employees. Ms. Killingsworth is a sought after human capital consultant, as well a facilitator of management/leadership training. She earned her B.A. degree in human resources from the University of Central Oklahoma and her M.B.A. degree from Southern Nazarene University. Ms. Killingsworth has served for the last ten years on the Board of Directors for the Oklahoma City Human Resource Society. She is currently director of the Oklahoma State HR Council. Since 2008, she has served as a committee chair for the annual Oklahoma State HR Conference, including co-chair for the conference in 2009 and 2013. Ms. Killingsworth has participated in the annual SHRM Leadership Conference since 2009. In addition, she was honored by being named the 2013 HR Champion for the Oklahoma City area by the Oklahoma City Human Resources Society. She is nationally certified with her Professional in Human Resources (PHR) from HRCI.
JESSICA SHERRILL is the director of OPSUCA (unemployment compensation program for Oklahoma public school districts) and staff attorney for Oklahoma State School Boards Association. She presents often on federal and state employment law topics, including unemployment, human resources, wage and benefits, and management of employees. Ms. Sherrill graduated from Oklahoma City University School of Law. She is a past president of the Oklahoma Association of School Board Attorneys and is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association, National School Boards Association Council of School Attorneys, and the National Association of Unemployment Insurance Appellate Professionals. Ms. Sherrill is the Rotary District 5750 district governor and a proud graduate of Leadership Oklahoma City’s LOYAL Class III.
LAUREN SYMCOX VOTH is of counsel to the law firm of Phillips Murrah P.C., and a member of the firm’s labor and employment practice group. She represents individuals and both privately-held and public companies in litigation, administrative matters, mediations and negotiations. Specifically, Ms. Symcox Voth has experience representing large and small corporations in employment-related matters. She has successfully represented clients in proceedings before state and federal courts and regulatory agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission, the Oklahoma Office of Civil Rights Enforcement, the Occupational Safety & Health Administration, the Oklahoma Tax Commission and the Internal Revenue Service. She regularly represents clients in employment-related litigation, administrative matters, negotiations and mediation, such as wrongful termination, discrimination claims, employment contracts and wage and hour claims. Ms. Symcox Voth also partners with human resources professionals and employers when navigating issues that employers face daily including, but not limited to, preparing and managing employee handbooks and policies, preparing and managing employment contracts, hiring and terminating employees, and advising clients on and preparing non-solicitation contracts.
