JOHN R. BEDOSKY is of counsel to Hinman Howard & Kattell, LLP, active in its estate planning practice group, and is a senior consultant with The Lustig Group, LLC. He has extensive experience representing individual and business clients in a variety of estate planning matters, including business succession planning; family wealth accumulation, preservation and transfer planning; estate and trust administration; fiduciary litigation; and related taxation matters. Mr. Bedosky is a frequent speaker on topics involving estate planning and estate administration. He has presented at continuing legal education seminars for the New York State Bar Association and the Minnesota State Continuing Legal Education Program. Mr. Bedosky has presented to the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants (CPAs), the McGladrey & Pullen National Tax Conference, the Lutheran Brotherhood Annual Conference, and the Minnesota Planned Giving Conference. He was a speaker for a seminar series sponsored by the ATG Trust Company on planning and drafting for estate planners. Mr. Bedosky has also been a national seminar leader for Foxmoor Continuing Education and delivers full day workshops on trust and estate income taxation. He has been an adjunct professor of law at the University of Minnesota Law School, the University of St. Thomas, and William Mitchell College of Law; an adjunct business taxation professor at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management; and a visiting professor of law at William Mitchell College of Law.
KATIE BINDRUP is an attorney with the David Bindrup Law Firm PLLC, whose practice is focused in the areas of probate, trust administration, and guardianship. She has worked for a wide variety of legal practices, ranging from multi-billion dollar companies to law firms, including Sedgwick LLP, and Snell & Wilmer. What makes Ms. Bindrup unique from most estate planning and probate attorneys is her background in litigation and negotiation, which is invaluable when dealing with Nevada probates, trust administration, and trust litigation. She earned her B.A. degree from Brigham Young University; her paralegal certificate from Utah Valley University, where she graduated with honors; and her J.D. degree from Cooley Law School, where she was the class valedictory speaker.
MICHAEL A. KIRTLAND is the managing member of the law firm of Kirtland & Seal, L.L.C., in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he limits his practice to the areas of estate planning, wills and trusts, probate, elder law, mediation, and ethics. Mr. Kirtland is a member of the American Bar Association’s Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section, and is the past chair of the Elder Law, Disability Planning and Bioethics Group. He is a member of the Senior Lawyers Division, where he is a past council member. Mr. Kirtland is also a member of the Colorado Bar Association (chair, Elder Law Section; past chair, Joint Task Force on Advance Health Care Directives; past chair, Trust and Estates Section's Forms Book Committee; member, Ethics Committee). He is past chair of the Judicial Performance Commission for Colorado’s Fourth Judicial District. He is a past vice-president and member of the Board of Directors of the National Elder Law Foundation, and is a fellow of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Mr. Kirtland is a registered mediator with the Alabama State Bar, and practices mediation in elder law, trust and estate, and probate matters. He has published numerous articles in a variety of legal publications. Mr. Kirtland earned his B.A. degree from Coe College and his M.P.A. degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. He received his J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from Faulkner University’s Jones School of Law and his LL.M. degree in taxation from the University of Alabama School of Law. Mr. Kirtland is licensed to practice law in both Alabama and Colorado. He is admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Tax Court, U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Tenth and Eleventh Circuits, as well as the Federal District Courts for the Middle District of Alabama and for the District of Colorado. He is one of only seven attorneys in the state of Colorado designated as a certified elder law attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation.
