This is a Basic level program presented in a group live setting. No advanced preparation or prerequisites are required. Upon completion of this course, attendee will be able to: 1. Restate who qualifies for SSI. 2. Provide at least two examples of common impairment listing groups. 3. List the key steps of the application process. 4. List at least three documents that must be included in the application. 5. Recall one piece of advice to give a client regarding the hearing. 6. Compare video hearings with in-person hearings. 7. BENJAMIN DECKER is the founder of Decker Law Office, LLC, where he focuses his practice in civil litigation, Social Security disability, and personal injury. Mr. Decker is a licensed attorney with years of experience in civil litigation, trials, and administrative practice. He also has extensive litigation experience representing plaintiffs and defendants, having worked for one of New Mexico’s largest Social Security disability firms and one of the nation’s 100 largest insurance defense/corporate law firms. Mr. Decker earned his J.D. degree from Pennsylvania State University - Dickinson School of Law.
BARBARA JARVIS is a sole practitioner in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she practices in the area of Social Security law. She had 16 years in practice as a vocational evaluator and expert witness before becoming an attorney. Ms. Jarvis has lectured to various professionals on Social Security law. She is a member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants Representatives and the State Bar of New Mexico. She earned her B.A., J.D. and M.A. degrees from the University of New Mexico.
GARY J. MARTONE is the owner of the Martone Law Firm in Albuquerque, where he focuses his practice on Social Security disability appeals. He earned his B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of California. Mr. Martone is a long-time member of Social Security Claimants Representatives and the State Bar of New Mexico.
