JEFFREY R. MATSEN is the founder and managing partner of Matsen Voorhees LLP, located in Southern California. His practice encompasses business formations and transactional matters, estate planning, asset protection, probate, tax, and real estate. Mr. Matsen has been an adjunct professor at Western State University College of Law, Golden Gate University, and Chapman University School of Law. He has also lectured to various professional groups on areas related to his practice, including limited liability companies, business entity formation and selection, asset protection techniques, and other relevant topics. Mr. Matsen wrote the American Bar Association publication, ABA Consumer Guide to Asset Protection. He earned his B.A. degree, cum laude, from Brigham Young University and his J.D. degree, with honors, from the University of California at Los Angeles. He is a member of the American Bar Association (Real Property and Trust Section), WealthCounsel, and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). Mr. Matsen has been designated a Top 100 attorney and a Super Lawyer, and is rated a 10 by AVVO and a Best Lawyer by US News and World Report. He also earned the number one rating for real estate entity formation by the international legal rating service, Corporate Livewire.
BEN SCHWEFEL is an attorney with Matsen Voorhees LLP, where he works with individuals, families, trustees, executors, personal representatives, and small business owners, with his primary areas of practice including: estate planning, asset protection, business formation, trust administration, probate, and trust litigation. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, San Diego and his law degree from University of San Diego School of Law. During law school, Mr. Schwefel received the Albert and Mae Lee Memorial Scholarship (recognizing strong scholastic ability and outstanding moral character), served as the comments editor for the San Diego Journal of Climate & Energy Law, and authored a student comment selected for publication (6 San Diego J. Climate & Energy L. 247 (2015)). He is also an active member of the Young Lawyers Division and Trust & Estates Section of the Orange County Bar Association.
