JEFFREY GARD is a Colorado attorney with Gard Law Firm, LLC, specializing in marijuana law. He represents numerous patients, doctors and marijuana businesses throughout the state of Colorado and has advised people from all over the country. Mr. Gard advises both state and local governments in their development of medical marijuana business regulations. He is widely considered one of Colorado's leading marijuana attorneys. Since the passage of Amendment 64, which legalized adult possession and cultivation of marijuana in Colorado, Mr. Gard has been working with state and local officials in developing regulations for the retail marijuana industry and was appointed by the state to participate in the rule-making progress. Over the last year, he has been working with the U.S. Congress to assist with an analysis of the Federal Code to determine the various areas which are impacted by the state marijuana laws in hopes of reconciling state and federal law in the near future. Mr. Gard now shares his knowledge and experience with other attorneys and has given several CLE lectures on various aspects of marijuana law. By way of background, he is a Colorado native and a cum laude philosophy graduate from the University of Colorado, where he also was elected Phi Beta Kappa. While attending the law school, Mr. Gard won the William De Souchet Award for best individual performance in trial advocacy and won a multi-state moot court competition during his first year of law school. After graduation, he accepted a position with a respected litigation firm in Boulder, Colorado, and later formed his own firm in downtown Boulder, Colorado.
ELLIOT GINSBURG is a partner at Garner & Ginsburg, P.A., a Minneapolis-based law firm. His practice is devoted to craft beer and distillery law, cannabis law, and franchise and distribution law. Along with his colleagues, Mr. Ginsburg works with businesses to find creative solutions to complex business problems, provide clients with guidance and assistance in starting and operating their businesses successfully, and in handling and resolving business disputes. He earned his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from Carleton College; his M.Sc. degree, with honors, from The London School of Economics and Political Science; and his J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Minnesota School of Law. Mr. Ginsburg is the author of many articles, including "How Far Up the Ownership Chain Can Liability Go?, Franchise Investor Claims and Liability," with William K. Whitner, Thirty-Eighth Annual Forum on Franchising, 2015. He has been selected as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers magazine (2013-2019).
BRIAN J. PEZZILLO is a member of Howard & Howard Attorneys, PLLC, where he practices in the areas of construction law, privacy and cybersecurity, administrative law, public works and contracting, commercial and business law, medical and recreational marijuana, contract negotiation, construction claims, mechanics' liens, alternative dispute resolution, and litigation and appeals. He is admitted to practice in New Mexico, Nevada, North Dakota, Arizona, Colorado and before the U.S. District Court, districts of Nevada and New Mexico; and U.S. Court of Appeals, 9th and 11th circuits. Mr. Pezzillo is a member of the State Bar of Nevada (Construction Law Section), the State Bar of New Mexico, the American Bar Association (Construction Industry Forum, Alternative Dispute Resolution Group, and Business Law Section) and the Clark County Bar Association. Mr. Pezzillo serves as an arbitrator and mediator with the American Arbitration Association and the State Bar of Nevada’s Fee Dispute Committee, as well as serving as a non-public arbitrator for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and as a member of the Southern Nevada Disciplinary Panel. He is also accredited by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) as a certified information privacy professional/Europe (CIPP/E) and a certified information privacy manager (CIPM). He is also a fellow of the Construction Lawyers Society of America (CLSA), and has been listed as a Mountain States Super Lawyer and a Best Lawyer in America. CHRISTOPHER RAY is counsel to Hoban Law Group and a graduate with distinction from Suffolk University Law School, and is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. He began his career as general counsel for a Denver-based e-commerce company, guiding it through an aggressive mergers and acquisitions program, in addition to ordinary general counsel responsibilities. Mr. Ray has since built an active management consultancy in partnership with an HR professional, which primarily serves risk management and business development functions for clients in high-risk niche verticals, including the sale of hemp-based and CBD-infused products. He joined Hoban Law Group's Massachusetts team in the spring of 2017, where he brings his business and management experience along with his legal expertise to HLG's New England-area clientele.
