MARLA M. CASTNER is a senior tax manager at Moss Adams, LLP, with 30 years of experience in public accounting. The main focus of her career has been taxation, and one of the primary areas of her concentration has been estate and gift taxation and not-for-profit taxation. Prior to moving to New Mexico in 2000, Ms. Castner worked for a small certified public accounting firm in New York, where she gained significant experience in estate, gift, and fiduciary taxation. She also is experienced in corporate and partnership taxation and provides consultation for real estate related taxation issues, such as like-kind exchanges and installment sales. Ms. Castner has provided public speaking to clients and organizations on an array of topics including record retention, estate and gift taxation, like-kind exchanges, and family limited partnerships. She is licensed to practice as a certified public accountant in New Mexico and is a member of the AICPA and the New Mexico State Society of CPAs. Ms. Castner is the treasurer for Keep New Mexico Beautiful. She earned her B.S. degree from Oklahoma Christian University.
EVAN S. HOBBS is the sole practitioner at Evan S. Hobbs Law, where he focuses on the law of trusts, fiduciaries, and beneficiaries; restitution; tax compliance and planning; estate planning; securities offerings; sales or acquisitions of businesses; and formation and governance of business entities. As a full-time visiting professor, Mr. Hobbs taught courses in will and trusts, estate planning, business planning and partnership tax, and served as faculty for clinic sections at the University of New Mexico School of Law. He is a member of the State Bar of New Mexico and the American Bar Association. Mr. Hobbs earned his B.A. degree from the University of California at Irvine, his J.D. degree from Brigham Young University, and his LL.M. degree in taxation from Southern Methodist University.
MICHAEL E. KIEFER is the vice president of the financial services firm of Mark J. Napolin and Associates, Inc. The practice is focused on estate planning, business succession, and financial and retirement planning for family and closely held business owners and professionals. Mr. Kiefer brings 25 years of experience in the financial markets. Through the years, he has earned the Series 7, 65, 24 and 66 licenses through the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. Mr. Kiefer serves on the board of the New Mexico Society of Financial Services Professionals. He received his M.B.A. degree from Colorado State University, as well as an undergraduate degree.
