CLAIRE E. HARTLEY is an attorney at Buelow Vetter Buikema Olson & Vliet, LLC. She focuses her practice on representing school districts, municipalities and private employers in all aspects of labor and employment law, general school law, and litigation. Ms. Hartley regularly counsels clients and works with human resources staff on topics, such as employee discipline, student discipline, public records/open meetings law compliance, employee and student handbooks, employee orientation and background check procedures, governing board and employer policies, labor negotiations, grievance arbitration, prohibited practice complaints, discrimination complaints, restrictive covenants, and dismissal/severance agreements. She is admitted to practice in Wisconsin and before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Ms. Hartley is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Bar Association, Eastern District of Wisconsin Bar Association, Defense Research Institute, and the Association of Women Lawyers. She earned her B.A. degree from the University of Illinois and her J.D. degree from Marquette University Law School.
ALANA M. LEFFLER is an attorney with the law firm of Buelow Vetter Buikema Olson & Vliet, LLC, where her practice focuses primarily on advising clients in the areas of school law and employee benefits. She counsels clients on topics such as student discipline, public records/open meetings, special education due process, employee discipline and dismissal, collective bargaining, grievance arbitration, and prohibited complaints. In addition, Ms. Leffler provides both public and private sector clients with advice on retirement, welfare, and benefit plan design and issues, as well as compliance with Internal Revenue Code, ERISA, HIPPA, and COBRA. While in law school she served as an associate editor of the Marquette Law Review. Ms. Leffler is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin School Attorneys Association. She earned her B.A. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and her J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from the Marquette University Law School.
GARY M. RUESCH is an attorney with Buelow Vetter Buikema Olson & Vliet, LLC. He has more than 30 years experience representing school districts and private schools in the areas of special education law, general school law, as well as labor and employment law. Mr. Ruesch regularly counsels clients on topics, such as student discipline, public records/open meetings, special education due process, employee discipline and dismissal, sexual harassment, employment and employee handbooks, school board policies, severance agreements, collective bargaining, grievance arbitration, and prohibited practice complaints. He has successfully represented clients before various administrative agencies and courts of law. Mr. Ruesch has also written about and presented on subjects related to special education, general school law, and labor and employment law. He regularly teaches a class entitled Legislative-Legal Aspects of Exception Education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's School of Exceptional Education. Mr. Ruesch earned his B.A. degree from Marquette University and his J.D. degree from Marquette University Law School. He is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin's Labor Law Section, past president and board member of the Wisconsin School Attorney Association, and the National Council of School Attorneys. Mr. Ruesch has been listed in Best Lawyers in America since 2001.
