ERIN D. GILSBACH is of counsel with Steckel and Stopp and the Director of Professional and Policy Development of the Greyfriars Institute, a nonprofit affiliate entity dedicated to providing quality professional education in the area of school law to educators and school leaders. Prior to joining King Spry, she was a public high school teacher who then served for over two years in the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Office of Chief Counsel. In her practice, Ms. Gilsbach emphasizes a proactive approach to legal defensibility for schools by helping them better understand the law and create legally-defensible procedures, administrative regulations, and board policies. Voted in Super Lawyers and Philadelphia magazines by her colleagues as a Rising Star attorney for the past five years, Ms. Gilsbach currently serves as President-Elect of the PSBA Solicitors Association. She has written articles on school law issues for numerous state and national education publications, and she recently served as legal editor for a legal handbook for school nurses. Ms. Gilsbach continues to have a passion for teaching, and she currently devotes most of her time to providing professional education in the area of school law to school leaders in public schools, presenting as a guest-lecturer for education doctoral programs, and speaking at state and national conferences, including the National School Boards Association, the PA School Boards Association, the NSBA Council of School Attorneys, National Business Institute, the Education Law Association, and LRP's National Institute.
