RANDAL T. EVANS is an attorney in private practice, focusing on the legal needs of nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations, businesses, and social enterprises. Prior to establishing a solo law practice, he worked for more than ten years in large national and international law firms, including more than eight years in the Phoenix office of a nationally-recognized tax practice. Mr. Evans has more than 20 years of experience working with nonprofit organizations, and more than 15 years of experience helping nonprofits with tax and legal issues. As part of his exempt organizations practice, he advises and represents nonprofit clients on a wide range of corporate, tax, regulatory, and transactional matters. Mr. Evans regularly works with private foundations, public charities, associations, religious organizations, health care organizations, schools and other educational organizations, international organizations, and other categories of exempt organizations. He is licensed to practice law in Arizona, and is a member of the State Bar of Arizona (Tax Law Section chair; Business Law Section), American Bar Association (Business Law Section, Section of Taxation, Forum Committee on Affordable Housing and Community Development Law, and Forum Committee on Communications Law), and Federal Bar Association (Tax and Indian Law sections). He works with nonprofits nationally on federal tax law matters involving exempt organizations. Mr. Evans earned his B.A. degree, cum laude, from the University of Mexico; and his J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from the University at Buffalo Law School, State University of New York. While in law school, he also earned graduate-level credits in urban planning and regional development, and participated in a year-long clinic in community development law. Mr. Evans has earned the chartered advisor in philanthropy (CAP®) professional designation from the Richard D. Irwin Graduate School of the American College of Financial Services. He has also earned the certificate of nonprofit board consulting from BoardSource.
