LORI K. AMANO is a partner in the finance and real estate department of Cades Schutte LLP. Ms. Amano is a 1995 graduate of Mid-Pacific Institute. She obtained her B.A. degree from the University of Hawaii in 1999. Ms. Amano earned her J.D. degree, summa cum laude, from the William S. Richardson School of Law in 2004, and was salutatorian of her law school class. She received various awards, including the Michael P. Porter Dean’s Scholastic Award for obtaining the number one ranking in her class during her 2L year, Dean’s Scholar Award, and the Francis Y. Sogi Fellowship Award. While in law school, she served as a co-production editor and a member of the University of Hawaii Law Review and was the author of “ERISA and Federal Preemption Following Rush Prudential HMO, Inc. v. Moran: Preemptive Effects Felt in Hawaii,” 25 U. Haw. L. Rev. 593 (2003) and “Ozaki and Comparative Negligence: Imposing Joint Liability Where a Duty to Protect or Prevent Harm from Third Party Intentional Tortfeasors Exists is Fairer to Plaintiffs and Defendants,” 26 Haw. L. Rev. 575, 2004. Ms. Amano is a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. She is admitted to practice before all Hawaii courts, the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

BART W. HOWK is a partner with the law firm of Bays Lung Rose & Holma in Honolulu and is a member of the firm's transactional department. He concentrates his practice in business and real-estate transactions. Mr. Howk's practice covers negotiating all manners of business deals and contracts, including commercial loans, mergers and acquisitions, independent-contractor agreements, consulting agreements, advertising and marketing agreements, and buy-sell agreements. He also performs complex real estate purchases and sales; negotiates commercial real estate leases and subleases; handles all aspects of real estate development; and advises on creation and organization of business entities, drafting operating agreements and corporate governance documents, and corporate restructuring. Mr. Howk is licensed to practice law in Hawaii, Kansas, and Missouri. He earned his M.B.A. degree from the University of Kansas School of Business and his J.D. degree from the University of Kansas School of Law.

CAROLE R. RICHELIEU is an attorney and the former and longest serving chief disciplinary counsel of Hawaii's Office of Disciplinary Counsel and former fund administrator for the Lawyers' Fund for Client Protection. Ms. Richelieu currently serves with the State Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, and is a former per diem hearings officer for the State Departments of Labor and Land and Natural Resources, as well as a legal ethics expert, consultant, and instructor. She has made numerous presentations on legal ethics, client protection, practice management, and professionalism, as well as written many articles and contributed to numerous manuals. Ms. Richelieu has served as a Supreme Court appointee to the Chief Justice's National Action Plan (producing the first one in the nation), the Committee to Review the Code of Judicial Conduct, the Committee on the Certification of Legal Specialists, the Committee on Unbundling Legal Services/Unauthorized Practice of Law, and continues to serve on the Board of Examiners in various capacities and the Commission on Professionalism. She is a fellow of the American Bar Foundation, and a member of the American Bar Association Center for Professional Responsibility, American Bar Association, and the Hawaii State Bar Association (on which she has served on many committees, and is currently a director for the Senior Counsel Division and twice past president, as well as the Transitioning Lawyers Committee).

ANDREA K. USHIJIMA is an associate in the finance and real estate department of Cades Schutte LLP. Her practice areas include real estate, banking, and finance. Ms. Ushijima is admitted to the Hawaii State Bar, as well as the U.S. District Court for the District of Hawaii. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Washington; her M.B.A. degree from the University of Hawaii Shidler College of Business; and her J.D. degree from William S. Richardson School of Law, University of Hawaii, with a certificate in environmental law. During law school, Ms. Ushijima served as the executive editor for publications and research for the University of Hawaii Law Review.
