LEONARD M. COLE, an attorney with Cole Nonprofits Law, LLC, has been focusing exclusively in nonprofits and tax law for almost two decades. He advises and represents nonprofit clients on a wide range of corporate, tax, regulatory, and transactional matters. Mr. Cole regularly works with charities, foundations, associations, schools and other educational organizations, international organizations, and other categories of exempt organizations. Before opening Cole Nonprofits Law, LLC, in 2012, he was the principal nonprofits law attorney at a regional firm in Portland, Maine. Prior to that, Mr. Cole practiced tax law in international law firms in New York and Boston and advised nonprofit organizations extensively at smaller firms in both cities. He earned his undergraduate degree from Berklee College of Music in Boston; his law degree, cum laude, from Duke University School of Law; and his Master of Laws in taxation from New York University School of Law.
PAUL M. ROY is an attorney with Withers Bergman LLP. Mr. Roy leads the firm's philanthropic and charitable organizations practice on the East Coast. He has been with Withers Bergman LLP and its predecessor for nearly 34 years. His practice focuses on domestic and international estate planning, advising private foundations and other non-profit organizations on tax matters, as well as counseling wealthy individuals with respect to planned giving and tax-exempt organizations. Mr. Roy has written numerous articles on domestic and international estate planning and is a frequent speaker on legal matters that are relevant to artists, dealers, museums, and other charities. He earned his law degree from Georgetown University and received his bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business.
