DEBORAH J. GANDER is a partner in the Miami law firm of Colson Hicks Eidson, where her areas of practice include medical negligence, truck accidents, significant personal injury and wrongful death. She served for six years as an adjunct professor at the University of Miami School of Law. She is a member of the Dade County (past chair, Civil Litigation Committee) and American bar associations, The Florida Bar, and the American Association for Justice. Ms. Gander is board certified as a civil trial specialist by The Florida Bar. She is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). Ms. Gander tried Bravo v. USA, which resulted in the largest judgment ever entered in a Federal Tort Claims Act ($60.9 million). As a result, she was named, along with her trial partner, as the 2006 Most Effective Civil Trial Lawyer in South Florida by the Daily Business Review. Ms. Gander is regularly included in the Florida Superlawyers publication, an honor bestowed upon less than five percent of attorneys in the state. She earned her B.S. degree and J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Miami.
K. STUART GOLDBERG is an attorney in private practice, located in Boca Raton Florida. He is certified by the Florida Department of Insurance to teach ethics to claims representatives, and has represented more than 300 lawyers in malpractice claims and Florida bar proceedings. Mr. Goldberg has previously spoken on legal ethics for National Business Institute. He earned his J.D. degree from Ohio State University.
JED KURZBAN is an attorney and managing partner for the law firm Kurzban Kurzban Weinger Tetzeli & Pratt P.A. He concentrates his practice in the areas of medical practice, product liability and personal injury. He is admitted to practice in Florida and Hawaii, and before the U.S District Court, Southern District of Florida and the U.S. Court of Appeals, 11th Circuit. PATRICK S. MONTOYA is a trial lawyer and a partner in the Miami law firm of Colson Hicks Eidson with multiple multi-million dollar verdicts to his credit. His practice areas include class action, wrongful death, complex commercial litigation, product liability, medical malpractice and general personal injury litigation. Mr. Montoya served as an instructor in the University of Miami Paralegal Program and as an adjunct professor at the University of Miami School of Law in the legal research and writing program. He is former president of the Miami Chapter of the American Inns of Court and currently is on the Board of Directors for the Dade County Bar Association. Mr. Montoya frequently lectures for The Florida Bar and other professional groups at continuing legal education programs related to products liability, electronic discovery, medical malpractice, ethical, discovery issues, and other issues related to his practice. He is a member of the American Association for Justice, and the Dade County and American bar associations. Mr. Montoya earned his B.A. degree from Davidson College and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law.
NATALIE M. RICO is an attorney at Colson Hicks Eidson and practices in the areas of class action and mass torts, products liability, personal injury, professional liability, and medical malpractice. Ms. Rico earned her B.A. degree from the University of Miami and her J.D. degree from the American University Washington College of Law. OSCAR A. SANCHEZ is a Florida Supreme Court civil circuit and appellate certified mediator. Before founding his boutique mediation firm, OAS Mediation, he was a trial lawyer and equity partner with an AmLaw 100 law firm. Mr. Sanchez’s service to the legal profession includes serving on the Executive Council of The Florida Bar Alternative Dispute Resolution Section, vice chair of the Judicial Nominating Procedures Committee of The Florida Bar, member of the Constitutional Judiciary Committee of The Florida Bar, and chair of the Board of Trustees of the University of Florida Law Center Association. He is presently serving his second term on a Florida Bar Grievance Committee. Mr. Sanchez is on the mediation roster of the American Arbitration Association. He is a frequent lecturer on trends in the law, including mediation advocacy and legal ethics, and has spoken on such topics as "Commercial Real Estate Transactions: The Art of the Deal," "Impact of the Real Estate/Mortgage Foreclosure Crisis on Construction Defect Litigation," "Landlord-Tenant Law; Leases, Evictions, Litigation & Settlements," "Florida Foreclosures and Workouts," and "Drafting and Enforcing Commercial Leases."
