DENNIS A. GROSSMAN is an attorney with Grossman Law Offices in Fresno. Mr. Grossman is admitted to the practice of law in both New York and California. REBECCA N. LILLEY is an American Bar Association certificated paralegal through the University of California at Santa Barbara. She has worked in the field of law since 1997, most recently for both insurance defense and plaintiff’s personal injury attorneys in the state of California. As a licensed private investigator and prior police officer, Ms. Lilley brings unique insight to the discovery and trial phases of civil and criminal cases. She has extensive training in e-discovery software programs, including Relativity. In 2016, Ms. Lilley founded Axis Paralegal, an on-demand comprehensive litigation support service owned and operated by experienced paralegals. She comes to Institute for Paralegal Education with specific expertise in e-discovery, case management, and indexing and trial preparation.
KAREN L. LYNCH is the sole practitioner of Karen L. Lynch, Inc., A Professional Law Corporation, where she has a general civil litigation practice as a defense and plaintiff's counsel. GREGORY L. MYERS, of the Law Offices of Gregory L. Myers, was formerly a senior deputy city attorney in the litigation department of the City of Fresno. PAUL J. O'ROURKE is the owner of the Law Offices of Paul J. O'Rourke, Jr., in Fresno, California. His main focus is insurance coverage. Mr. O'Rourke primarily represents policyholders. He was an insurance coverage and bad faith attorney for more than 20 years while at McCormick Barstow, LLP. MICHAEL L. RENBERG is a partner with the law firm of Parichan, Renberg & Crossman, where he concentrates in the areas of civil litigation, construction defect, and personal injury in both state and federal courts. He earned his B.A. degree from the University of California at Los Angeles and his J.D. degree, with honors, from the University of San Francisco. Mr. Renberg clerked at the California Supreme Court for Justice David Eagleson and at the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of California for Judge Robert Coyle. JACOB J. RIVAS has been a licensed attorney since 2000. Mr. Rivas began his legal career at a statewide insurance defense firm in Fresno, representing employers in workers' compensation matters before the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board. After a brief two-year stint at this law firm, he went to work at a civil litigation firm where he represented plaintiff and defendants in high-exposure civil litigation matters, including personal injury, labor and employment, and public entity defense. In 2007, Mr. Rivas opened the Law Office of Jacob J. Rivas, and he has been representing plaintiffs in personal injury and labor and employment cases ever since. Mr. Rivas has tried numerous cases to verdict, both bench and jury trials, in state and federal court on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants. He was the recipient of a prestigious honor bestowed by Top Verdict and was recognized as having obtained one of the top 50 jury verdicts of 2017 in the entire state of California. MICHAEL D. SCHWARTZ has tried 259 cases to completion, nearly all of which have been jury trials, and is a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers. He began his legal career in 1988 at Morrison & Foerster as a litigation associate, representing plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal court. From 1993 to 2018, Mr. Schwartz served as a criminal prosecutor at the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office, representing the People of the State of California in a wide variety of criminal cases. In 2019, he opened The Michael Schwartz Law Firm, where he tries civil and criminal cases with and for other attorneys. Mr. Schwartz has been an active member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, where he served as president of the Barristers, as a trustee of the Association, and as a member of the Judicial Appointments Committee. He has contributed to many legal publications and has been featured on the cover of Los Angeles Lawyer magazine. As a prosecutor, Mr. Schwartz received the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Prosecutor of the Year Award, and he received the Los Angeles County Bar Association's Special Recognition of Excellence Award for his service as lead instructor of the Trial Advocacy Project. He teaches trial advocacy at major law firms across the country through Trial Advocacy Group, LLC, which he founded in 1999.
