"Legal Ethics of Technology Competence" is an accredited program under the regulations of the Iowa Supreme Court Commission on Continuing Legal Education. It is planned that this program will provide a maximum of 3.0 hours of regular credit toward the mandatory continuing legal education requirements under the Iowa rule, including 3.0 hour of ethics credit.
R. SCOTT JOHNSON is a member with McKee, Voorhees & Sease, PLC. He litigates patent and intellectual property cases in federal and state courts across the country, and is the chair of the firm’s litigation practice group. Mr. Johnson is admitted to practice in the federal and state courts in Iowa and is a member of the Iowa State Bar Association. He is past chair of the Technology Association of Iowa. Mr. Johnson has previously taught patent litigation at Drake Law School and teaches a class at Iowa State University to introduce potential law students to intellectual property issues. Mr. Johnson earned his B.S. degree from Iowa State University and his J.D. degree from Drake University Law School.
JAMES K. WESTON II is a board-certified civil trial lawyer at the Tom Riley Law Firm, PLC, where he has practiced since graduating from law school in 1996. He practices in the areas of personal injury and wrongful death, professional negligence/malpractice, commercial litigation, and general civil litigation. In addition to his trial practice, Mr. Weston regularly speaks to lawyers’ groups on litigation and trial issues, insurance law, and other subjects. He earned his B.A. degree from the University of Iowa and his J.D. degree from Drake University School of Law.
