JAMES W. BALMER is a founding partner of Falsani, Balmer, Peterson & Balmer, where he has represented thousands of people in all kinds of litigation, including jury trials, workers' compensation trials and hearings, Social Security disability hearings, and appeals in those areas. He has handled wrongful death, car crash, slip and fall, worksite injuries, defective product claims, dog attack, liquor liability claims and other kinds of bodily injury matters, as well as insurance coverage disputes, defamation claims, and probate and trust disputes. Mr. Balmer is admitted to practice before all Minnesota and Wisconsin courts, both state and federal, and has tried cases throughout both states. He has argued cases before the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago and the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals based in St. Louis. Mr. Balmer has been selected as a Minnesota Super Lawyer annually beginning in 1998. He has been certified as a civil trial specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and by the Minnesota State Bar Association. JAMES M. SUSAG is a shareholder with Larkin Hoffman Daly & Lindgren Ltd., in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Since 1995, his commercial and real estate litigation trial practice has focused on franchise; dealer and contract disputes; and real estate, construction, and land use. He has extensive first chair litigation experience representing clients in numerous jury and court trials, domestic and international arbitrations, administrative proceedings, and appeals. Mr. Susag is a member of the Minnesota State, Hennepin County, and Ramsey County bar associations; the American Bar Association's Forum on Franchising; and the International Franchise Association. He is admitted to practice in state and federal courts in Minnesota and Wisconsin, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th, 4th, and 8th circuits. Mr. Susag is a frequent writer, public speaker, and panelist. He has been named a Super Lawyer from 2002 to the present, a Best Lawyer in America and a Best Lawyer in Minnesota by Minnesota Monthly magazine, and one of the Very Best U.S. Attorneys in Franchising and a Franchise Legal Eagle by Franchise Times. Mr. Susag earned his B.A. degree, summa cum laude, from the University of St. Thomas and his J.D. degree, summa cum laude, from William Mitchell College of Law.
DANIEL TORRENS is an attorney with Portmeirion Law Offices in Phoenix, where he practices in the areas of personal injury litigation, alternative dispute resolution, and commercial litigation. Mr. Torrens lectures nationally in the areas of contracts, personal injury, and trial advocacy. He is a faculty member of the Arizona College of Trial Advocacy and a graduate of the State Bar of Arizona's CLE Institute. Mr. Torrens is a member of the State Bar of Arizona and the Colorado Bar Association. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and is a judge pro tem with the Maricopa County Superior Court. Mr. Torrens earned his B.A. degree from Arizona State University and his J.D. degree from the University of Nebraska.
