JASON R. JONES is a trust and estate attorney in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He practiced in Hillsborough for five years at a local family firm, made partner, and in 2020 left to found his own law firm, Jones Collaborative Estates. In his first five years of practice, he handled a significant amount of trust and estate litigation with a focus on fiduciary misconduct. Jones Collaborative Estates was founded by Mr. Jones to try and help reduce these estate-related lawsuits by providing proactive planning and administration practices designed to avoid some of the major pitfalls that lead to litigation. When disputes arise nonetheless, he assists families in resolving their cases through the collaborative law model (a legally binding, non-court resolution designed to preserve underlying relationships). Mr. Jones is a member of the North Carolina Civil Collaborative Law Association and a member of the North Carolina Bar Association's Estate Planning and Fiduciary Law Section (where he assists on the Legislative Committee and various subcommittees).
