WANETA E. ELLIS is an attorney at Cape Fear Family Law focusing her practice on family law. Ms. Ellis began her career in the legal field by volunteering as a guardian ad litem in Wilmington, for children who needed an advocate in the courtroom. She served abused, abandoned and neglected children by advocating for their best interests inside and outside of the courtroom. Ms. Ellis focuses a large part of her practice on the protections of children and volunteers with the local Latino community offering a free legal clinic to those in need. She received her B.A. degree in criminal justice administration from the University of Phoenix and her J.D. degree from Elon University School of Law.
E. PARKER HERRING is a board certified specialist in family law and is the founding member of the law firm of Herring & Mills PLLC. She also is the Director of A Child’s Hope, a licensed child placing agency, and is the only attorney in North Carolina who directs an adoption agency. The agency was founded in 2000 and has placed over 315 North Carolina children for adoption. Ms. Herring has practiced for 30 years and speaks frequently at continuing education seminars on adoption and other family law topics. She also practices assisted reproduction, as well as all aspects of divorce law. Ms. Herring is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Wake Forest University School of law. She’s a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, the Wake County Bar Association, and the North Carolina Collaborative Lawyers.
W. DAVID THURMAN is a founding partner of Thurman, Wilson, Boutwell & Galvin P.A., in Charlotte. For over 35 years, his practice has focused on adoption, adoption litigation, business transactions and homeowners association law. Mr. Thurman earned his B.A. and J.D. degrees, with honors, from the University of North Carolina. He has been a fellow of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys (AAAA) since 1994. He represents private adoptive clients and also serves as counsel for a number of adoption agencies licensed in North Carolina.
