MARLON L. BATES is a partner with Scalley Reading Bates Hansen & Rasmussen, P.C., in Salt Lake City where his areas of practice include foreclosures, creditor bankruptcy, real estate, litigation and business contracts. He received a B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from Brigham Young University and his J.D. degree from the National Law Center at George Washington University. Mr. Bates served as a Judge Pro Tem in the Small Claims Division of the Third Circuit Court of Salt Lake County for six years and has served as the managing partner of his law firm on three occasions. Over the past 33 years, he has handled thousands of foreclosure and bankruptcies for a wide variety of lenders and servicers. He has been honored by LPS Default Solutions as one of its top attorneys for excellence in both foreclosures and bankruptcies. For the past 10 years, he has been selected by his peers each year as one of Utah Business Magazine’s “Legal Elite.” He is admitted to practice in Utah state and federal courts and is a member of the Salt Lake County Bar Association, the Utah State Bar and the American Bar Association.
LORI KING is the managing partner of the foreclosure department with the law firm of Lundberg & Associates, where she practices primarily in the area of mortgage foreclosures, regulatory compliance, title resolution, REO and eviction matters on behalf of lenders and mortgage servicers. She earned her B.A. degree from Weber State University and her J.D. degree from Washburn University School of Law. Ms. King is a member of the Utah State Bar (Real Property Section and Collection Section), and the American Bar Association. Lundberg & Associates is a long standing member of the USFN where Ms. King is currently serving on the Board of Directors and is Chair of the Membership Committee.
ADELAIDE MAUDSLEY is senior vice president/general counsel of People's Intermountain Bank, the largest community bank in Utah. She was previously a shareholder with Kirton McConkie PC, where her practice included representation of parties in commercial litigation, workout, restructuring, receivership, and securitization matters. Ms. Maudsley is a member of the American College of Bankruptcy and various other professional organizations. She was named one of Utah's Legal Elite in the area of business bankruptcy in Utah Business magazine for the last several years. Ms. Maudsley earned her B.A. degree, summa cum laude, from Franklin & Marshall College and her J.D. degree, summa cum laude, from the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah.
J. CRAIG SMITH is a founding member of the Salt Lake City law firm of Smith Hartvigsen, PLLC, where he practices in the areas of water law, land use, and redevelopment law. Mr. Smith has argued more than 30 appeals before the Utah Supreme Court. He was a law clerk for the Hon. J. Robert Bullock for the Fourth District of Utah and an assistant city attorney for Park City, Utah. Mr. Smith has written many articles, particularly on the subject of water law. He is recognized by Legal Elite, Best Lawyers and Super Lawyers. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the Utah State Bar (sections on Urban, State and Local Government Law, Natural Resources and Litigation). Mr. Smith earned his A.S. degree, with high honors, from the College of Eastern Utah; and both his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, and J.D. degree, cum laude, from Brigham Young University.
