PAMELA N. EPSTEIN is the managing partner and CEO of Green Wise Companies (Green Wise Legal, P.C. and Green Wise Consulting, LLC), California’s premiere full-service cannabis firm, providing a range of legal, consulting and application permitting services to every facet of the cannabis industry. Ms. Epstein is known as a fearless advocate for local cannabis businesses across the supply chain. She has been a featured speaker at several cannabis conferences, providing energetic and compelling commentary on topics such as land use, zoning, regulatory compliance and environmental issues. In addition to her role at Green Wise Companies, Ms. Epstein served as the special city attorney for the city of Hollister with regard to their medical cannabis ordinance and regulations, and serves as a member on the Advisory Board for Foundation Of Cannabis Unified Standards (“FOCUS”) and Annabis, a cannabis fashion company. She also serves on CCIA’s Legislative Committee. Ms. Epstein earned her B.A. degree from the University of Arizona, her J.D. degree from the University of LaVerne, and her LL.M. degree in international environmental law from Golden Gate University School of Law. She currently serves as an adjunct professor, most recently teaching the first cannabis law course at Arizona Summit Law School.
JEFFREY GARD is a Colorado attorney with Gard Law Firm, LLC, specializing in marijuana law. He represents numerous patients, doctors and marijuana businesses throughout the state of Colorado, and has advised people from all over the country. Mr. Gard advises both state and local governments in their development of medical marijuana business regulations. He is widely considered one of Colorado's leading marijuana attorneys. Since the passage of Amendment 64, which legalized adult possession and cultivation of marijuana in Colorado, Mr. Gard has been working with state and local officials in developing regulations for the retail marijuana industry, and was appointed by the state to participate in the rule-making progress. Over the last year, he has been working with the U.S. Congress to assist with an analysis of the Federal Code to determine the various areas which are impacted by the state marijuana laws in hopes of reconciling state and federal law in the near future. Mr. Gard now shares his knowledge and experience with other attorneys and has given several CLE lectures on various aspects of marijuana law. By way of background, he is a Colorado native and a cum laude philosophy graduate from the University of Colorado, where he also was elected Phi Beta Kappa. While attending the law school, Mr. Gard won the William De Souchet Award for best individual performance in trial advocacy and won a multi-state moot court competition during his first year of law school. After graduation, he accepted a position with a respected litigation firm in Boulder, Colorado, and later formed his own firm in downtown Boulder, Colorado.
MICHAEL MCGRORY is a partner with SmithAmundsen LLC. Mr. McGrory focuses his practice in the areas of cannabis law, regulatory law, commercial litigation and aviation law. He has presented on cannabis law to many organizations, including the Chicago Bar Association, Chicago-Kent College of Law, the Association of Lloyds Brokers, the Chicago Healthcare Risk Management Society, the Marijuana Investor Summit, the Chicago Cannabis Conference, and others. Mr. McGrory’s articles have appeared in Marijuana Business Daily and Marijuana Investor News, and he has been quoted in articles on cannabis law in the Chicago Law Bulletin and the Chicago Tribune. He is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois Cannabis Bar Association, and the Defense Research Institute; and the director of Mental Health America Illinois. He was also named one of the 40 Illinois Attorneys Under 40 by the Chicago Law Bulletin in 2014. Mr. McGrory earned his B.A. degree from Eastern Illinois University and his J.D. degree from DePaul University College of Law.
