He is a member of the Rhode Island Supreme Court's MCLE Committee;and the Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York State, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut bar associations. He earned his A.B. degree from the University of Notre Dame, his M.B.A. degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, his J.D. degree from Albany Law School of Union University, and his L.L.M. degree from the Morin Center, Boston University School of Law.
JOSEPH M. RUSSELL is a shareholder in the Milwaukee office of von Briesen & Roper, s.c., where he is a member of the litigation and risk management practice group. Mr. Russell has litigated a wide variety of cases in state and federal courts throughout the country, including commercial, environmental, mass tort, product liability, franchise, consumer fraud, healthcare, trade secrets, campaign finance, and civil rights cases. He is also the firm’s ethics counsel. In this role, he addresses ethics issues for the firm, including research and analysis of complicated ethical and risk management issues. He regularly speaks on ethics to various groups. Mr. Russell is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Wisconsin (member, Ethics Committee), the Milwaukee Bar Association (chair, Government Law Section), the Seventh Circuit Bar Association, and the Eastern District of Wisconsin Bar Association. His bar admissions include Wisconsin; Illinois; U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit; U.S. District Court, Eastern and Western districts of Wisconsin; Northern District of Illinois; District of Colorado; and the U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. Russell earned his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Georgetown University; his M. Phil. degree from Trinity College, University of Dublin; his M.A. degree from the University of Wisconsin; and his J.D. degree from Northwestern University School of Law (senior manuscript editor, Northwestern Law Review, Moot Court Committee).
