MICHAEL T. DONOVAN is chairman of the Tax Department at Lewis Rice LLC.. Mr. Donovan has significant experience in all aspects of tax planning for partnerships and LLCs, corporations, real estate, REITs and funds. He regularly advices clients in connection with M&A transactions, real estate projects and complex partnership issues. Mr. Donovan also counsels exempt organizations on issues relating to tax-exempt status, intermediate sanctions and joint ventures with for-profit entities. He has spoken and written extensively on a variety of tax topics, including a recent article for the Journal of Taxation on the complex FATCA final regulations. Mr. Donovan is a member of the American Bar Association (Tax Section and chair), and International Lawyers Network (Tax Group). Mr. Donovan received is B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame; J.D. degree from the University of California at Los Angeles School of Law; and LL.M.degree in taxation from Georgetown University Law Center.
RYAN C. FURTICK practices in the Taxation and Corporate departments of Lewis Rice LLC. Mr. Furtick’s broad based tax practice includes federal income tax planning for individuals, partnerships, LLCs, and corporations, including business and succession planning. He frequently represents clients in tax controversy matters with the IRS and other state and local taxing authorities. Mr. Furtick’s corporate practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, entity formation and structuring, corporate governance matters, and general business representation. He is a member of the American Bar Association (Tax Section) and Bar Association of Metropolitan St Louis. Mr. Furtick received his M.S. degree in finance, and B.S.B.A. degree in finance and accounting from Washington University in St. Louis; and his J.D. degree, cum laude, and LL.M. degree in taxation, from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law.
DANIEL S. WELYTOK is a shareholder in the Milwaukee office of von Briesen & Roper, s.c., where he assists clients with tax issues, acquisitions and divestments, capital structuring, financing, corporate governance, information technology, licensing and distribution, regulatory and compliance issues, labor and employee benefits matters, and dispute resolution. He serves as chair of the firm's opinion review committee. Mr. Welytok was appointed in 2018 by the U.S. Department of Treasury to serve on the Internal Revenue Service Advisory Committee on Tax Exempt and Government Entities, and has served on the American Bar Association’s Advisory Committee, articles editor for The Tax Lawyer and chair of the ABA Tax Law Committee, Young Lawyers Division. He is also a past member of the State Bar of Wisconsin Tax Section Board of Directors and past chair of the TE/GE Council for the Great Lakes Area liaison with the Internal Revenue Service. Mr. Welytok is an editorial board member and on the editorial staff of the TAXFAX column of The Cooperative Accountant. He has been the author of and edited various tax and law-related books, including the 2018 National Income Tax Workbook, Nonprofit Law & Governance for Dummies, Sarbanes-Oxley for Dummies and The Wisconsin Guide to Nonprofits. Mr. Welytok received his B.B.A. degree, cum laude, from University of Wisconsin; his J.D. degree from University of Wisconsin; and his LL.M. degree, with distinction, from DePaul University.
