DAVID C. BAKUTIS is a partner with the Fort Worth law firm of The Blum Firm P.C. He is board certified in estate planning and probate law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Mr. Bakutis is a member of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and the Tarrant County Probate Bar Association. He has focused his practice in the areas of probate, probate litigation, wills, trusts litigation, estate administration and guardianship since 1980. Mr. Bakutis is a frequent lecturer on probate practice and procedure, probate litigation and asset protection. He is a member of the Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law Section of the State Bar of Texas and a member of the Tarrant County Bar Association. He earned his B.A. degree from the University of Connecticut and his J.D. degree from Texas Tech University.
KARLA GUERRERO is an estate planning and tax attorney for The Wright Firm, L.L.P., who works primarily from their Dallas office. Her practice focuses on probate, estate planning, and trusts, as well as tax law. Ms. Guerrero obtained her B.A. degree in government and Spanish from The University of Texas at Austin and her J.D. degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. Prior to joining The Wright Firm, Ms. Guerrero worked in the Dallas area as a financial planner for a multinational financial counseling firm where she provided comprehensive tax planning, estate planning, and financial and retirement planning to high net worth individuals; preparing tax returns; creating tax efficient estate plans; and advising on numerous other issues related to investments, retirement and even charitable giving.
LAURA ANNE POHLI practices estate planning, probate and estate and gift tax law in Dallas, Texas. She is board certified in estate planning and probate by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She attended Vanderbilt University and graduated from the University of Texas, earning her B.A. degree with honors and special honors. Ms. Pohli earned her law degree from the University of Texas School of Law, where she was associate editor of the Texas International Law Journal. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas (Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law Section), the Dallas Bar Association (Probate, Trusts and Estates Section), and the Dallas Estate Planning Council. Ms. Pohli is a member of several Dallas Bar Association committees and is a past chair of the Publications Committee. She has also served on the legislative committee of the state bar's REPTL Section, drafting proposed legislation. Ms. Pohli speaks to civic and professional groups.
JANET SHAFER BOYANTON is a sole practitioner in DeSoto, where she practices in the areas of elder law, probate, wills and nursing home neglect. She has written an article, "Nursing Home Litigation," published in The Elder Law Report and has lectured to various professional groups on aging and nursing home residents' rights issues. Ms. Boyanton earned her B.A. degree from Austin College, her M.B.A. degree from Amber University and her J.D. degree from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law. She received mediation training from Settlement Consultants International Inc. Ms. Boyanton is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the College of the State Bar of Texas, the Dallas Bar Association, the Texas Chapter of National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (Past Board of Directors, By-laws Committee), the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and was the founding treasurer of the organization Best Southwest Bar Association.
