NICOLE K. HAYNES is an attorney at the Charlotte, North Carolina office of Ballard Rosenberg Golper & Savitt, LLP. She represents and advises employers on all aspects of labor and employment law, including issues related to labor and employment compliance, creating and implementing policies, defending various discrimination and retaliation charges, defending unfair labor practice charges, union representation petitions and organizing campaigns, and arbitrating grievances concerning employee discipline/discharges and alleged contract violations. She is a member of the Labor and Employment Law Sections of both the North Carolina Bar Association and the Mecklenburg County Bar Association and was selected to the 2018 Super Lawyers Rising Star list. M. JANELLE LYONS is a partner with Cranfill Sumner & Hartzog LLP. She focuses on solving complex problems for employers, municipalities, private entities, and homeowners associations, as well as those going through divorce and custody issues. Ms. Lyons also provides advice and counseling on all aspects of the of the hiring, employment, and separation process, including development and implementation of employment practices and procedures, and investigations for employers who have received complaints of harassment and discrimination. She is chair of the firm's Diversity Committee and the firm's community service initiatives in Charlotte. Ms. Lyons is active in the Mecklenburg County Bar, is former co-president of the John S. Leary Association of Black Attorneys, and is a current member of the Board of Directors for the John S. Leary Bar Association Scholarship Foundation. She has served in various leadership positions with the Junior League of Charlotte since 2009. Ms. Lyons was recently named a Charlotte Business Journal 2017 40 Under 40 Honoree. She received her B.C. degree from the University of North Carolina, followed by earning her J.D. from Williams & Mary School of Law.
EDWARD L. PAULEY is an attorney in the law firm of Wallace & Graham PA, where his practice includes workers' compensation, civil litigation, OSHA, and personal injury matters. Mr. Pauley has previously lectured to various professionals on issues related to workers' compensation. He is licensed to practice in North Carolina and West Virginia; and before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. Pauley earned his B.A. and J.D. degrees from West Virginia University. JEREMY A. STEPHENSON is a shareholder with Golding Holden & Pope in Charlotte, North Carolina, providing counseling and litigation services to management clients in employment and related corporate matters. He has successfully defended employers before administrative agencies around the country, and the state and federal courts in North Carolina, against claims of employment discrimination, wrongful termination, breach of contract, wage and hour violations, non-compete agreements, trade secrets, and related business litigation. Mr. Stephenson advises management on wide ranging topics of employment law compliance, including the avoidance of employee claims, the review and drafting of employment contracts and policies, and development and presentation of employee training programs. He regularly publishes articles and is invited to speak on topics of employment law, litigation and trial tactics, insurance law and corporate risk management topics. Mr. Stephenson is a recent past president of the Charlotte Area Society of Human Resource Managers and is currently Government Affairs Director for NCSHRM. He has extensive experience providing insurance coverage counseling and litigation services on Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI), Directors and Officers (D&O), General Liability (GL), Errors & Omissions (E&O), and other lines of coverage. Mr. Stephenson litigates in the state and federal courts of North Carolina in cases pertaining to professional liability, products liability and other areas of civil and corporate liability. He has received various awards and peer review honors including Legal Elite from Business North Carolina. Mr. Stephenson earned his B.A. degree from the University of Virginia and his J.D. degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law.
LEANN M. WALSH is a senior associate in K&L Gates LLP's Raleigh office where she is a member of the Labor, Employment & Workplace Safety practice group. Ms. Walsh focuses her practice on counseling businesses on difficult employee relations issues, conducting internal employment investigations, advising clients regarding complex labor and employment issues relating to mergers and acquisitions, and defending employers in civil and administration employment litigation matters. She received her B.A. degree from the University of Florida (Valedictorian), followed by earning her J.D. degree from Boston College Law School (Valedictorian; Senior Editor on Boston College Law Review).
