BURTON D. GARLAND JR. is a shareholder in the St. Louis office of Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. His employment practice includes litigating employment discrimination matters under Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, the Federal False Claims Act, and the various state counterparts to these federal laws. Mr. Garland has extensive experience litigating high stakes matters in the context of motions seeking temporary restraining orders and other injunctive relief matters involving restrictive covenants (non-compete, non-solicit and confidentiality agreements), misappropriation of trade secrets, retaliation, tortious interference, unfair competition, and related claims. In addition to representing clients in federal and state court and before federal and state agencies, Mr. Garland’s practice includes advising clients on employment-related matters and drafting personnel policies, employment contracts, severance agreements, and employee handbooks. He also has significant experience in wage and hour class action defense and in FINRA arbitrations. Mr. Garland’s labor law practice includes union avoidance counseling and campaigns, elections, objections to elections, R-Case strategy and litigation, collective bargaining, strikes and injunctions, arbitration, and unfair labor practice charges before the National Labor Relations Board. He earned his B.S.B.A. degree from the University of Arizona, his M.B.A. degree from St. Louis University and his J.D. degree from St. Louis University School of Law. Mr. Garland is a member of the American Bar Association, The Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis (Labor and Employment Law Section chair 2007-08) and the Southern Illinois Bar Association.

RONALD S. LANGACKER is managing partner of Langacker Law, Ltd., a firm which concentrates on employment and labor law, and other areas of civil litigation in state and federal courts. He is a member of the Illinois State, Federal, Wisconsin, Chicago and Champaign County bar associations. Mr. Langacker is admitted to practice in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. He earned his B.S. degree, cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and his J.D. degree from Valparaiso University School of Law.

DONNA ROGERS is an instructor of management at University of Illinois Springfield and owner of Rogers HR Consulting. She graduated with honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and holds a Master of Education degree in human resources development. Ms. Rogers earned her Bachelor of Science degree in public relations from Illinois State University. Her firm previously won the Small Business of the Year award. Ms. Rogers earned the HR Professional of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award from CIC-SHRM. She regularly delivers numerous presentations among professional groups to include state and national conferences. Ms. Rogers previously taught at Robert Morris College and has guest lectured at Benedictine University. She humbly serves her peers in the HR field as a member of the SHRM Student Chapter co-advisor and is a former North Central Region MAC representative and is a past director ILSHRM.

RICK STEWART is the founding principal of Hesse Martone, P.C.'s Springfield, Illinois office. He has more than 15 years of experience in handling a variety of labor and employment matters. Mr. Stewart has routinely advised clients in collective bargaining, contract administration, employee discipline and labor-management relations. He has handled all types of law enforcement issues and has handled dozens of police contract negotiations and arbitrations. Mr. Stewart is legal counsel to the Illinois Sheriffs' Association. He is licensed to practice in Illinois, Missouri, and New York and is a member of the American Bar Association. Mr. Stewart earned his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from the State University of New York at Albany; his J.D. degree from Albany Law School of Union University; and his certificate in labor studies from Cornell University Industrial Labor Relations School.
