CLAIRE E. HARTLEY is an attorney at Buelow Vetter Buikema Olson & Vliet, LLC. She focuses her practice on representing school districts, municipalities and private employers in all aspects of labor and employment law, general school law and litigation. Ms. Hartley regularly counsels clients and works with human resources staff on topics such as employee discipline, student discipline, public records/open meetings law compliance, employee and student handbooks, employee orientation and background check procedures, governing board and employer policies, labor negotiations, grievance arbitration, prohibited practice complaints, discrimination complaints, restrictive covenants and dismissal/severance agreements. She is admitted to practice in Wisconsin and before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Ms. Hartley is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Bar Association, Eastern District of Wisconsin Bar Association, Defense Research Institute, and the Association of Women Lawyers. SARAH PHAFF is an attorney with the law firm of Gorby, Peters & Associates LLC, in Atlanta. Her practice focuses on practical solutions to everyday problems and concerns for companies. As part of her practice, Ms. Phaff provides training and coaching regarding various business practices ranging from employment issues to contracts to privacy concerns. She worked at a national labor and employment law firm before joining Gorby Peters. Ms. Phaff is admitted to practice in the Georgia state and superior courts, and the Northern, Middle, and Southern districts of Georgia. She earned her B.A. degree, magna cum laude with honors, from Oglethorpe University and her J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from Mercer University School of Law.
TYLER T. RASMUSSEN is a partner in the Irvine, California office of Fisher & Phillips LLP. His litigation practice involves representing employers in various aspects of labor and employment law, including employment discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims; wage and hour violations; trade secret protection; and various administrative proceedings. Mr. Rasmussen also regularly counsels employers with difficult employment issues with their workforce, including discrimination and harassment complaints and investigations, disciplinary actions, leaves of absences, and wage and hour laws. He has defended employers in civil litigation in state and federal court, as well as arbitration. Mr. Rasmussen has also defended employers before federal and state administrative agencies, including the Department of Labor, the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE), the Department of Fair Employment and Housing, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board (CUIAB). He regularly provides human resource training to clients and speaks to employers and employer groups regarding labor and employment issues. While in law school, he participated in the Los Angeles Family Law Clinic and served as the managing editor of the Loyola International and Comparative Law Review. He is also the cofounder of the nonprofit foundation Heartbeats for Tom Rasmussen, which donates automatic external defibrillators to local schools and sports facilities, and is active with Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Mr. Rasmussen received his B.A. degree from the University of California and his J.D. degree from the Loyola Law School.
