EMILY R. FRANCO is an attorney in the Austin office of The Blum Firm, P.C., where her main areas of practice include trust, estate and probate law. Ms. Franco is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law, ABA Young Lawyers Division), the Austin Bar Association (Estate Planning and Probate Section), the Austin Young Lawyers Association, the State Bar of Texas (Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law), and the Texas Young Lawyers Association. She earned her B.A. degree, cum laude, from Rice University and her J.D. degree from the University of Texas School of Law.
JESSICA A. NEWILL is an attorney with Gardner Law. She is board certified in estate planning and probate law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Ms. Newill serves as vice chair of the business section and head of the estate planning and probate practice. Her experience is in representing clients in estate planning, probate, complex trust and estate administrations, guardianship actions, and probate litigation. Ms. Newill is admitted to practice in Texas, Nevada, Colorado (inactive) and Missouri (inactive). She earned her J.D. degree and B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Missouri at Kansas City.
DOUG PAUL is partner in the Austin office of the The Blum Firm, P.C. He is board certified in estate planning and probate law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Mr. Paul’s practice focuses on estate planning through the use of trusts, life insurance, and family business entities. He has administered trusts, estates and supervised the intergenerational transfer of wealth. Mr. Paul’s practice includes extensive use of business entities, such as limited liability companies and family limited partnerships, and work with charitable minded clients. He has worked extensively with federal taxation for both income and transfer taxes. Mr. Paul has extensive experience in planning with tax deferred retirement accounts. He is the 2015-2016 president of the Austin Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals, and is a board member of the Austin Chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. Mr. Paul teaches the estate planning course for the University of Texas and Austin's certified financial planner certificate, and teaches continuing education for accountants, insurance professionals and financial planners throughout central Texas. He is admitted to practice law in Texas and North Carolina. Mr. Paul earned his B.A. degree from the University of Texas at Austin, his M.B.A. degree from the Ourso College of Business of the Louisiana State University, attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law, and earned his J.D. degree from The Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University.
ELIZABETH T. POWDRILL is an attorney with the law firm of Hopper Mikeska PLLC. She is board certified in estate planning and probate law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Ms. Powdrill focuses her practice on estate planning and estate, trust, and guardianship administration. She is a member of the Decedents’ Estates Committee of the Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law Section of the State Bar of Texas; a board member of the Estate Planning and Probate Section of the Austin Bar Association; and a board member of Ballet Austin. Ms. Powdrill earned her B.A. degree, magna cum laude with distinction, from Boston University and her J.D. degree from the University of Texas School of Law.
