SARAH J. BARNES is an attorney and trust officer with the Bank of Sun Prairie in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, where she handles all types of trust and estate administration matters. Ms. Barnes also deals with tax related matters. She previously was in private practice where she practiced in the areas of estate planning, probate, elder law, and frequently served as a court appointed guardian ad litem in guardianship matters. Ms. Barnes earned her B.A. degree from Edgewood College and her J.D. degree from Marquette University Law School. Her professional memberships include the State Bar of Wisconsin, Dane and Sauk County bar associations, Legal Association of Women, and the Madison Estate Planning Council. Ms. Barnes is admitted to practice in Wisconsin.
KEITH DURKIN is a partner in the Orlando office of Baker & Hostetler LLP. He is a member of the estate planning and trusts practice group and has experience in a full range of estate planning documents, including charitable remainder trusts, QTIP trusts, generation skipping trusts, short-term irrevocable trusts, insurance trusts, and special needs trusts. His focus also includes asset purchase agreements, shareholder agreements, complex financing documents, international licensing and distribution agreements, operating agreements with guaranteed payments, preferred returns, tag along/drag along rights, and detailed tax allocation exhibits including qualified income offset provisions and deficit restoration obligations. Mr. Durkin has also drafted various corporate merger documents including "A," "E," and "F" type reorganizations; as well as researched, drafted, edited, and prepared memos on all areas of taxation, including S-Corp taxation, partnership taxation, employee benefits, corporate tax, personal tax, tax-exempt entities, payroll tax, excise tax, and international tax. He also represents taxpayers in tax controversies before the IRS and preparing Non-Profit 501(c)(3) applications. He is admitted to The Florida Bar and is a member of the American Bar Association. He received his B.A. degree from Tulane University, New Orleans; his J.D. degree, cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law, Coral Gables; and his LL.M. degree in taxation from New York University School of Law, New York.
CHRISTIE TOURNET is a founding attorney with Christie Tournet & Associates, focusing her practice in estate planning and administration. She provides counseling related to real estate and commercial issues, and assists families and businesses with proper planning, dealing with unexpected events, and conflict resolution. Prior to founding Christie Tournet & Associates, she assisted with forming and managing several multi-million dollar residential and commercial real estate developments. Ms. Tournet has an active Louisiana real estate salesperson license and became a Louisiana notary public before obtaining her law degree. She is a member of the New Orleans Metropolitan Association of Realtors (NOMAR), Northshore Estate Planning Council, Louisiana Notary Association, the 22nd Judicial Circuit Bar, and the 22nd Judicial District Circuit Inn of Court. Ms. Tournet earned her B.S. degree, summa cum laude, from Loyola University New Orleans and her J.D. degree from Loyola University New Orleans School of Law.
