CHESTER L. CAMERON JR. is a trial attorney at Kenneth J. Allen Law Group, in Valparaiso, Indiana. There, he practices personal injury and wrongful death law, with emphasis on commercial motor vehicle and industrial/construction accidents. A published author, Mr. Cameron co-wrote "Suing the Sovereign: Tort Claims against the United States of America (ICLEF, 2013)" and "Suing the Sovereign: Tort Claims against the State (ICLEF, 2013)." He is also a member of several civic and professional organizations, including the Indiana State Bar Association, where he serves on the executive committee for the Young Lawyers Section. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Cameron served as judicial extern to United States Magistrate Judge Paul R. Cherry of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana - Hammond Division. He earned his B.A. degree, cum laude, from Valparaiso University and his J.D. degree from the University of Arkansas School of Law. SHIRLEY DAUGHERTY is a registered nurse, certified nurse life care planner and Medicare set-aside allocator with Daugherty & Associates, LLC. Ms. Daugherty is a member of the American Association of Nurse Life Care Planners, American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants, and National Association of Medicare Set Aside Professionals. She graduated with an associate degree in 1994 and Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2012. Ms. Daugherty has worked primarily in long term care as a staff nurse, and in management. She began a nurse consulting business (Daugherty & Associates, LLC) in 2004, focusing on long term care consultation. In 2007, she began the transition into legal nurse consulting, nurse life care planning and Medicare set-aside consultation. Ms. Daugherty is very active within the American Association of Nurse Life Care Planners and is the past secretary of the Executive Board. She is currently serving on the Certified Nurse Life Care Planner Certification Board.
MARC E. DUERDEN M.D. is a clinical associate professor at the Indiana University School of Medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation - Spinal Cord Injury Medicine, American Board of Independent Medical Examiners, and the American Board of Disability Analysts. Dr. Duerden is a life time member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Medical Association. He is the past president of the Indiana Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the Indianapolis Medical Society. He is the current treasurer of the Indiana State Medical Association and the Indianapolis Medical Foundation. Dr. Duerden earned his B.A. degree, with distinction, from Purdue University and his M.D. degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine.
MELISSA J. MONTGOMERY is a biomedical engineer with Wolf Technical Services, Inc., where she contributes to product design in the areas of biomechanics, gross anatomy, mechanical design, and human factors. Ms. Montgomery’s master’s thesis entitled, “Development and validation of an adjustable, robust hippotherapy simulator,” used her expertise in these disciplines to design, develop, prototype, and statistically validate an adjustable mechanical hippotherapy simulator to benefit persons with traumatic brain injury, autism and cerebral palsy (patent pending). She designed and developed a biofidelic, modular and frangible Anthropomorphic Test Device (ATD) to approximate human physical characteristics and injury mechanisms. Ms. Montgomery also has been instrumental in developing a device for performing emergency cricothyrotomy procedures. In addition to creating design concepts, she has developed and implemented FDA-compliant project management procedures in preparation to file a 510(k) submission for a Class II medical device. Ms. Montgomery also contributes to forensic analysis with a special focus on injury causation and prevention; seat belt and child restraint investigations; determining injury potential; and investigating pedestrian, motor vehicle and slip/trip/fall injuries. Additionally, by applying the laws of physics and mechanics to human performance, she can analyze the biomechanic feasibility of a reported incident. She has performed occupant kinematic analysis, aiding in the determination of who was driving a vehicle at the time of the crash. Ms. Montgomery is a member of the Ohio Traffic Accident Reconstruction Association (OTARA) and Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) International. She is also a member of the Society of Women Engineers and currently serves as the president of the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) Industry Chapter of Indiana. Ms. Montgomery earned a Master of Science in biomedical engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. She earned her Bachelor of Science from Rose-Hulman in biomedical and mechanical engineering, with an emphasis in biomechanics.
ERIC M. ORENSTEIN M.D. is with IU Health Arnett Hospital as a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon dedicated to providing quality orthopaedic care. He has completed a post-residency fellowship program in joint reconstructive surgery, including hip and knee replacement surgery and he is trained in minimally invasive surgery of the hip and knee. As an experienced physician with more than 30 years of specialization in orthopaedics, he takes a highly personal approach to caring for his patients. Dr. Orenstein's practice includes general orthopaedics, with a specialty interest in total joint replacement surgery. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and he is a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Surgeons, the State Medical Society, the State Orthopaedic Society, the Clinical Orthopaedic Society, American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and the Mid-America Orthopaedic Association. Dr. Orenstein is also an independent medical examiner and legal medical expert witness. He earned his B.S. degree from Georgetown University and his M.D. degree from the University of Maryland. He completed his internship at Loyola University Affiliated Hospitals in Maywood Illinois (surgery) and his residency at Loyola University Affiliated Hospitals (orthopaedic). In addition, he is a fellow, joint reconstructive surgery, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
