JANET L. HOFFMAN is a solo practitioner in Des Moines, Iowa. Ms. Hoffman retired from the Iowa Attorney General's Office in 2017 after 23 years of working in the areas of Medicaid estate recovery, HIPAA compliance and enforcement for state agencies, and juvenile appeals. Ms. Hoffman currently practices primarily in the area of elder law, including Medicaid planning, application, and approval; estate planning; guardianships and conservatorships; and probate. She earned her B.A. degree, summa cum laude, from Buena Vista University; and her J.D. degree, with distinction, from the University of Iowa College of Law. CYNTHIA P. LETSCH opened her current office, Letsch Law Firm, in 2013. Her practice is limited to elder law, estate planning, and probate/trust administration. Ms. Letsch is a frequent speaker on topics of Medicaid for the elderly; Medicaid financial risk management for care facilities; and fiduciary responsibilities of agents under powers of attorney, guardians, conservators, and trustees. Her legal career includes private practice, eight years of teaching at the university level, and serving as corporate counsel. Ms. Letsch obtained her undergraduate degree at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas; and her Doctorate of Jurisprudence degree from Drake University Law School, graduating from both universities with honors. She is admitted to practice in Iowa, Nebraska, and the Federal Southern District of Iowa.
