PATRICK J. McGINLEY, with The Law Office of Patrick John McGinley, P.A., defends his fellow lawyers against ethics complaints, bar grievances, and professional responsibility claims. He has been practicing law since 1996 and is a member of The Florida and District of Columbia bars. Since 2015, has been an adjunct professor of law at the Barry University School of Law teaching professional responsibility, constitutional law, and insurance law. Mr. McGinley is a frequent lecturer on attorney ethics and is the author of four nationally distributed treaties: Florida Insurance Law, Florida Workers' Compensation, Florida Elements of an Action, and Florida Municipal Law. All four treatises have been made a part of the prestigious West's Florida Practice Series and given their own database on WestLaw. Mr. McGinley's writings have been cited as an authority for deciding cases in opinions from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, the Court of Appeals of Maryland, the Supreme Court of Florida, Florida's First District Court of Appeals, and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. His law firm's primary office is located in the Winter Park suburb of Orlando, Florida. Mr. McGinley is the former editor-in-chief of the Journal of Transnational Law and Policy and a former associate attorney to the late executive director of The Florida Bar, Marshall Cassedy. Mr. McGinley earned his A.A. degree, with high honors, from Daytona State College; his B.S.B.A. degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Central Florida; and his J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from the Florida State University. He is board certified by The Florida Bar currently in appellate practice and formerly in workers' compensation.
