JAMES W. BALMER is a founding partner of Falsani, Balmer, Peterson & Balmer, where he has represented thousands of people in all kinds of litigation, including jury trials, workers' compensation trials and hearings, Social Security disability hearings, and appeals in those areas. He has handled wrongful death, car crash, slip-and-fall, worksite injuries, defective product claims, dog attack, liquor liability claims, and other kinds of bodily injury matters, as well as insurance coverage disputes, defamation claims, probate, and trust disputes. Mr. Balmer is admitted to practice before all Minnesota and Wisconsin courts, both state and federal, and has tried cases throughout both states. He has argued cases before the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago and the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals based in St. Louis. Mr. Balmer has been selected as a Minnesota Super Lawyer annually beginning in 1998. He has been certified as a civil trial specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and by the Minnesota State Bar Association. Mr. Balmer has been honored as an advocate by the American Board of Trial Advocacy. He earned both his B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Minnesota.
JAMES K. THEISEN is an attorney in the Rockford office of Hupy and Abraham. With more than a decade of experience, he handles personal injury claims. Mr. Theisen earned his J.D. degree from Southern Illinois University School of Law, where he received numerous awards and scholarships, including the Phi Delta Phi Award for outstanding achievement in legal ethics and the Academic Achievement Scholarship. He also served as a student ambassador for Southern Illinois University School of Law and participated in William & Mary School of Law’s summer program in Madrid, Spain. Mr. Theisen is licensed to practice in Illinois’ state and federal courts, as well as the state of Missouri. He also is a member of the Winnebago County and the Illinois State bar associations.
MARK WEST is a sole practitioner in San Gabriel where he practices in plaintiff personal injury and wrongful death, products liability law, medical malpractice, and business civil litigation. He has published several articles and frequently lectures. Mr. West is admitted to practice in the Northern, Central and Southern U.S. District courts in California and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, along with the Supreme Court of the United States. He has also been admitted pro hac vice in the State and U.S. District Court for Nevada and the U.S District Court for Minnesota. He is a member of the American and Los Angeles County bar associations, the State Bar of California, the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, the Consumer Attorneys of California (past Legislative District coordinator) and the American Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. West earned his B.S. degree from New Hampshire College (now Southern New Hampshire University) and his J.D. degree from Southwestern University School of Law.
