STEVEN P. SHEWMAKER is a founding partner in the law firm of Shewmaker & Shewmaker, LLC. He has over twenty years of total military service in the active Army and the Army Reserves. While in the Army, Mr. Shewmaker served with a variety of military organizations, including infantry, military intelligence, and judge advocate units in the United States, Japan, Iraq, and Afghanistan. He continues to serve as a judge advocate in the Army Reserves where he advises soldiers and military commanders on a wide range of issues, including family law matters. Mr. Shewmaker practices in the areas of domestic litigation, criminal defense, and military criminal and administrative matters. He earned his B.A. degree from the University of Alabama, his M.A. degree from Saint Mary's University, and his J.D. degree from Georgia State College of Law. He is a member of the Family Law and Criminal law sections of the State Bar of Georgia. Mr. Shewmaker is a member of the Executive Committee of the Military and Veterans Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia and serves as the treasurer of the DeKalb Family Law Section. He is also a member of the American Bar Association and the DeKalb Bar Association.
