Presenters: Katrina Brede, Steven W. Edmiston and Mark V. Jordan
KATRINA BREDE is an attorney at Bracepoint Law, P.S., with a focus on business, intellectual property, and entertainment. When she is not advising clients and lawyering, Ms. Brede is also an award-winning independent filmmaker and writer. In previous careers, she worked in film and video production and worked on the Microsoft team that expanded their streaming movie and TV product globally. In her eclectic career, she has been a cast member at Walt Disney World. Ms. Brede volunteers for the King County Neighborhood Legal Clinics and also serves on the Board of Directors for the Strawberry Theater Workshop in Seattle.
STEVEN W. EDMISTON is a business, entertainment, and intellectual property attorney with Bracepoint Law, P.S., in Seattle. He is also an independent film writer and producer. His feature films include Crimes of the Past, A Relative Thing, Farewell to Harry and The Periphery Project. His award-winning short content includes The Maury Island Incident, The Day My Parents Became Cool, Thr33 and Reinventing the Patriot. He has served on film festival boards and juries, is a frequent guest judge for university business plan competitions, and has taught screenwriting at the University of Washington and film producing at the Seattle Film Institute and Seattle University. Finally, Mr. Edmiston founded Quadrant45, The Maury Island Incident Historical Society and The Good Bootlegger’s Guild, and has become a frequent speaker on quirky topics from Northwest history.
MARK V. JORDAN is an attorney with Bracepoint Law, P.S. Mr. Jordan is the former chair of a major Seattle law firm’s intellectual property practice group and is an expert on commercial and corporate law, intellectual property and international business transactions. He also maintains expertise in formation options for startups and established businesses (including limited liability companies), angel and venture capital investment, and organizational governance. In his career, Mr. Jordan has tried, arbitrated and mediated numerous commercial cases (both plaintiffs and defendants), and practices primarily before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington. He co-wrote with Philip A. Talmadge the book Attorney Fees in Washington, published by Lodestar Publishing. He has been appointed a Rule 39.1 Neutral by the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington and serves as an arbitrator for King County Superior Court. Mr. Jordan earned his J.D. degree from Gonzaga University School of Law and his LL.M. (international and comparative law) degree from Notre Dame Law School. He served as Advisory Board president of Catholic Community Services - Legal Action Center, Pacific Northwest Blues in the Schools, and provides pro bono services to several other nonprofit groups.
