JORGE M. ABRIL is managing partner in the Miami firm of Jorge M. Abril, P.A., where he practices in the areas of consumer collections; commercial litigation; hospital and medical collections; health care reimbursement, including managed care lawsuits; and collection related litigation. He has more than 30 years of experience in the debt collection industry and extensive litigation exposure in the representation of commercial and consumer creditors. Mr. Abril frequently lectures in the areas of collections, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, healthcare collections and other collections related issues. He earned his B.A. degree from California State University and his J.D. degree from Nova Southeastern University Law School, where he was a member of the national competitor of the Moot Court Society. Mr. Abril is a member of the Coral Gables, Miami-Dade County, Cuban American and American bar associations; The Florida Bar; the Latin Builders Association; the Healthcare Financial Management Association; the Commercial Law League of America; and the American Collectors Association. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. District in the Southern District.
