Restate who qualifies for SSI. 2. Provide at least two examples of common impairment listing groups. 3. Provide two avenues of "attack" of vocational expert findings. 4. List the key steps of the application process. 5. List at least three documents that must be included in the application. 6. Recall one piece of advice to give a client regarding the hearing. 7. MICHAEL W. BERTICS is an attorney with the law firm Lennon, Camak and Bertics, PLLC. Mr. Bertics has practiced exclusively in the areas of Social Security disability, including before the federal district court, North Carolina workers’ compensation law, and personal injury law during his professional career. He is a board certified specialist in workers’ compensation law and served as the chair of the North Carolina State Bar's Workers' Compensation Specialization Committee from 2017 through 2020. Mr. Bertics has presented at more than 30 CLE’s on a range of topics in workers’ compensation, Social Security disability and law practice management.
JUAN A. FLORES JR. is an attorney at Juan A. Flores, Jr. Attorney at Law, where his experience includes more than 12 years as an attorney advisor at a Social Security administration hearing office. This included over five years as one of the original senior attorney advisors. As a senior attorney advisor, he reviewed case files and where appropriate, issued a fully favorable decision. EMILY HAAS is an attorney with Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, in the firm's Raleigh office. She focuses on cases involving patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets, as well as related issues. Ms. Haas is admitted to practice in the Federal District Court for the Eastern, Middle, and Western districts of North Carolina; U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit; U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit; U.S. Patent and Trademark Office; and the state of North Carolina.
