L. SCOTT MILLER is an attorney with Sturgill, Turner, Barker & Moloney, PLLC's Government & Municipal Law Practice Group and has 24 years of experience in law enforcement. His career with the Kentucky State Police began as a trooper and expanded to include legal work as he earned his law degree while maintaining full-time employment as an officer. Mr. Miller oversaw litigation and represented the Kentucky State Police and troopers in civil rights cases, employment law cases, etc. He reached the rank of Lt. Colonel and held several roles for the Kentucky State Police, most recently as executive advisor to the Commissioner. His practice at Sturgill Turner focuses on police officer defense, employment law, civil rights litigation and insurance defense. He received his B.A. degree from Tusculum College and his J.D. degree from Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University. He is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association; the Defense Research Institute the Fayette County Bar Association, the International Association of Chiefs of Police (Legal Officers Section), the Kentucky Chiefs of Police Association, and the Kentucky State Police Professional Association.
