ROBERT A. MATHERS is a shareholder with von Briesen & Roper, s.c., working out of the firm's Milwaukee office as chair of the firm's Tax Law Section and co-chair of the firm's Securities Law Section. In that capacity, he provides legal and business advisory services to Midwest businesses and their owners, focusing on closely-held businesses, as well as estate planning and private wealth services to individuals. Mr. Mathers leverages his experience as the former national tax director of one of the country's largest CPA firms to provide tax and transactional guidance to the firm's business and individual clients. He regularly provides guidance to various CPA firms and the accounting industry. Mr. Mathers was formerly the president of Clifton Gunderson's Wealth Management group, based in Madison, Wisconsin. He made significant contributions in strengthening its client relationships and built a considerable presence in both the accounting and wealth management industries, overseeing the management of $1 billion in client assets. Mr. Mathers is a certified public accountant. He is a member of the U.S. Tax Court, the State Bar of Wisconsin, the American Bar Association (Tax Section), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants, American Association of Attorney-CPAs, Winnebago County Bar Association, Fox Valley Estate Planning Council, and Winnebagoland Estate Planning Council. Mr. Mathers earned his B.B.A. degree, cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire; and his J.D. degree from Mitchell Hamline School of Law. He is accredited in business valuation (ABV) and a personal finance specialist (PFS).
ERIK V. SCULLY is a shareholder in the law firm of Scully & Scully, PC, with offices in Pittsburgh and Wexford, Pennsylvania. His practice is concentrated in the areas of taxation, estate planning, estate administration, probate law and representing clients in various business matters. Mr. Scully's practice has a particular emphasis in representing clients during tax controversies and tax litigation at the federal, state and local levels. He earned his undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and his law degree from St. Louis University. Mr. Scully is listed in Who's Who in American Law; and is a member of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of State, Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs, and State Board of Accountancy (appointed by Governor Tom Corbett to 2011-2015 term and reappointed by Governor Tom Wolf to 2016-2020 term).
