JONATHAN T. BARTON is a founding member of Stanton | Barton LLC, focusing his practice in products liability, fire science litigation, personal injury and wrongful death, and medical device/pharmaceutical. Mr. Barton has been engaged in all aspects of litigation, from claim investigation through trial before the bench and jury, in both state and federal courts. He regularly lectures on litigation techniques and advanced deposition/discovery strategies, including e-discovery, and the use of technology in trial. Mr. Barton is a member of the Order of the Barristers and the recipient of two Lewis F. Powell Jr. awards for excellence in advocacy, awarded by the American College of Trial Lawyers. He is licensed to practice before the Supreme Court of Missouri; the Supreme Court of Illinois; and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western districts of Missouri, the Northern, Southern and Central districts of Illinois; the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals; and Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Barton earned his B.A. degree from St. Louis University and his J.D. degree, with honors, from Drake University.
MATTHEW J. DEVOTI is a partner in the law firm of Casey, Devoti & Brockland, P.C., where he practices in the areas of personal injury, medical malpractice, workers' compensation, and insurance coverage disputes. Mr. Devoti earned his B.A. degree from Westminster College and his J.D. degree from St. Louis University School of Law. He is a member of the American Association for Justice, the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, The Lawyers Association of St. Louis, and the Injury Board.
JOHN D. KERSHMAN is a partner at Stange Law Firm, P.C., and manages the firm's Missouri offices located in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, West St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Franklin County, Lincoln County, Boone County, and Jackson County in Kansas City. He focuses his practice on complex domestic litigation and appeals, including family law mediation and collaborative family law. He is admitted to practice in Missouri; and before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Federal districts; and the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Kershman is a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, as well as the St. Louis Collaborative Family Law Association. He is a graduate of Washington University Law School where he has been an adjunct professor of law since 2007. There, he instructs U.S. law and methods for an LL.M. program, and has been a coach of the law school's National Appellate Advocacy Team, capturing three consecutive national championships. Mr. Kershman was selected as a Super Lawyer Rising Star through Missouri and Kansas Super Lawyers Magazine from 2010 - 2015. He has been selected in 2015 and 2016 as a member of the Nation's Top One Percent by The National Association of Distinguished Counsel - Nation's Top Attorneys. JAMES V. O'BRIEN is a member of Buchanan, Williams & O'Brien, P.C. He clerked for U.S. District Court Judge James L. Foreman in the Southern District of Illinois. He later practiced law with Lewis, Rice & Fingersh in St. Louis, where he was a partner before joining Buchanan, Williams & O'Brien, P.C. Mr. O'Brien is a certified public accountant in Missouri, and has an LL.M. degree in taxation from Washington University School of Law. His legal career has been centered on commercial litigation, for which he has been named a Missouri-Kansas Super Lawyer for many years; and on certain areas of personal injury litigation, including medical malpractice and Jones Act/FELA. Mr. O'Brien has also spent considerable time in the areas of maritime law and tax controversy work. He has tried many bench and jury cases in Missouri, Illinois, and other states; and has appeared in oral argument in numerous appellate courts, including the United States Supreme Court. Mr. O'Brien is a graduate of Illinois State University with degrees in business administration and English literature. He graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Law, cum laude, and where he was managing editor of the SIU Law Journal. Mr. O'Brien admitted in Missouri, Illinois, Eastern District of Missouri, Western District of Missouri, Southern District of Illinois, Central District of Illinois, Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the St. Louis County Bar Association.
JILLIAN A. WOOD is a partner with the Illinois offices of Stange Law Firm, P.C. She represents clients in Illinois and Missouri in family law matters, including, divorce, child custody, child support, guardianship, adoption, paternity, and other domestic relation matters. She is licensed to practice in Illinois and Missouri. Ms. Wood has extensive knowledge in the area of family law. While in law school, she interned with the school’s legal clinic, where she assisted clients with child guardianship and child orders of protection cases. Prior to joining Stange Law Firm, P.C., Ms. Wood worked for a general practice firm, where she handled numerous family law cases, as well as personal injury, administrative law, and general litigation cases. She has argued in front of appellate courts in Illinois and Missouri; and is a member of the Family Law Section of the Illinois State Bar Association. Ms. Wood has been instrumental in the growth of Stange Law Firm, P.C.’s Illinois offices. Along with being selected as a 2015 Rising Star, she was lead counsel rated for divorce law in 2014. Ms. Wood earned her B.S. degree in clinical laboratory science from St. Louis University, where she attended the University as a Presidential Scholar. She also earned her J.D. degree and her Master’s in Public Health degree from St. Louis University.
