SLOAN L. ABERNATHY is a partner with Deutsch Kerrigan LLP. Mr. Abernathy defends insurers, commercial transportation companies, and other corporate clients in litigation matters involving claims of personal injury, survival, wrongful death, property damage and premises liability, as well as coverage disputes, subrogation actions and contractual claims. He is licensed in Louisiana and Tennessee, and is admitted to practice in all Louisiana federal district courts. Mr. Abernathy received his B.A. degree from Vanderbilt University and earned his J.D. degree from Cumberland School of Law, Samford University. He served as a federal juridical law clerk after graduating law school, and then spent several years working as a felony prosecutor before entering private practice.
ROBERT J. DAIGRE is an attorney with Burgos & Associates, L.L.C., and has more than 20 years of experience as a litigation attorney. Mr. Daigre's trial and appellate experience includes personal injury suits, property damage suits, maritime and admiralty actions, insurance disputes, contract disputes, construction litigation, legal malpractice claims, and workers' compensation. MICHAEL G. HELM is the founder of Helm Law Firm. Mr. Helm maintains a solo practice, having engaged in litigation in Louisiana and Texas over the past 30 years. BARBARA IRWIN is a partner with Pujol Pryor & Irwin. Her practice has focused on litigation, construction law, and personal injury work; and has developed to include wills and succession. She has experience trying both bench and jury trials. Ms. Irwin is a trial advocacy faculty member with Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert Law Center. HON. CHARLES R. JONES is retired and of counsel with The Law Offices of Frank D’Amico, Jr. APLC. Judge Jones served on the Louisiana Court of Appeal, Fourth Circuit, from 1991 until December 2012. He became Chief Judge of the Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court on January 1, 2012, and was Chief Judge until his retirement. He worked in private practice from 1978 to 1991. Prior to his judgeship, he served in the Louisiana Legislature Black Caucus until he commenced service as an Associate Judge to his court in 1992. He is a member of the Judicial Council of the American Bar Association, Judicial Council of the National Bar Association, Appellate Judges Conference of the American Bar Association, Louisiana Conference of Court Appeal Judges, Council of Chief Judges, State Court of Appeal, the Louis A. Martinet Legal Society, and the Fourth and Fifth circuit judges associations; and is involved with numerous other civic boards and associations. Judge Jones, a Vietnam veteran, graduated with a B.S. degree from Xavier University of New Orleans; and earned his J.D. degree from Loyola University of New Orleans School of Law. He served as faculty at National Institute of Trial Advocacy (NITA), and Loyola and Louisiana State universities.
KRISTI POST is an attorney with Blake Jones Law Firm, L.L.C., in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her practice is primarily comprised of maritime accidents, serious auto and commercial vehicular accidents, traumatic brain injuries, premises liability, and Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act cases in numerous state and federal courts, as well as administrative agencies. Ms. Post has more than 30 years of trial experience, and has successfully handled cases involving such diverse areas as the kidnapping of offshore workers by militant forces in Nigeria; Hurricane Katrina insurance litigation; crane failures; commercial diving accidents; and a case involving a derrick barge accident and dramatic rescue of its divers during a hurricane off the Yucatan Peninsula, which became the subject of the novel All the Men in the Sea. She is an associate professor of trial advocacy at Tulane Law School, and is one of only 25 attorneys in the state of Louisiana board certified in civil trial law by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Ms. Post received her J.D. degree and LL.M. degree in admiralty from Tulane Law School, and is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Louisiana State Bar Association.
KEVIN A. RIETH is a chief litigation and trial lawyer with Kambur Law Firm. He has practiced law for more than 34 years. Mr. Rieth focuses his practice in personal injury, including maritime, Jones, Act, 18 wheeler accidents, workers’ compensation, LHWCA, storm damage claims, and premises liability.
