ELLEN B. LaPLANTE is an attorney with Unsworth LaPlante, PLC, where her focus is to provide clients with guidance in estate planning, elder law, and Medicaid preparation. Ms. LaPlante is a member of the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys (AAEPA), a national organization comprised of legal professionals concentrating on estate planning. As a member of the Academy, she receives ongoing, comprehensive training on modern estate planning techniques. Ms. LaPlante has helped clients put together unique estate plans, including assistance with trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and advance directives. She also works with clients on Medicaid planning and qualifying for Medicaid assistance. Ms. LaPlante is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the Vermont Bar Association, and the New York State Bar Association. She graduated from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute (Virginia Tech) in Blacksburg, Virginia, and earned her J.D. degree from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law in Washington D.C.
LON T. McCLINTOCK is a sole practitioner in Bennington, Vermont, where his primary areas of practice include Social Security disability benefits, small business organization, general civil litigation, school law, real estate, and wills, estates and probate. He currently serves as counsel to the Hearing Panels of the Vermont Professional Responsibility Program. Mr. McClintock's real estate practice involves both real estate transactions and representing homeowners' associations. He has been an agent for First American Title Insurance Company since 1991. Following law school, Mr. McClintock was awarded a Reginald Heber Smith Fellowship and worked at Vermont Legal Aid, Inc. During his Fellowship, he focused his community service work on domestic violence and housing issues. Mr. McClintock left Vermont Legal Aid, Inc. in 1988 and has been in private practice since. He has been pro bono legal counsel for several non-profit organizations, including Bennington Area Habitat for Humanity, the Tutorial Center, and PeaceQuilts, Inc. Mr. McClintock served as chair of a Hearing Panel for the Vermont Professional Responsibility Program for six years. He served as a member of the Selectboard for the town of Shaftsbury from 2007 to 2013, five of those years as chair of the Selectboard. Mr. McClintock is admitted to practice law in Vermont and before the U.S. District Court for the District of Vermont. He earned his B.A. degree from Dartmouth College and his J.D. degree from Vermont Law School, where he was a member of the Vermont Law Review.
DIANNE R. PALLMERINE is a sole practitioner with an office in Shelburne,Vermont, and is certified as an elder law attorney by the ABA-accredited National Elder Law Foundation. Her practice is focused on elder and disability issues, including long-term care and estate planning, guardianships and special needs trusts. Ms. Pallmerine is a founding member of the Vermont Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and served as its first president. She was a driving force behind the Chapter’s 2012 Summit focusing on financial abuse of the elderly. Ms. Pallmerine has been a presenter on elder law topics including guardianship, incapacity, Medicaid planning and eligibility, estate planning, and veterans benefits. She graduated from Pace University School of Law, cum laude, with a certificate in health law.
PETER L. POTTS is an attorney with Clarke, Demas & Baker LLC. His practice areas include business planning, secured transactions and securitized lending, land use, real estate law, estate planning/business succession planning, wills, trusts, and probate. He is a member of the Vermont Bar Association. Mr. Potts earned his B.S. degree from Purdue University Krannert School of Management and earned his J.D. degree from Syracuse University College of Law.
