Steven Abrams is a sole practitioner with Abrams Cyber Law & Forensics LLC, where he concentrates his practice on civil remedies for electronic and internet privacy violations, defamation, computer law, cyber security policy and procedures, computer forensics and e-discovery. He advises law firms and companies on data protection, privacy issues and legal strategies in an array of areas, including the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA), Stored Communications Act (SCA), Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Mr. Abrams is licensed to practice in South Carolina and the District of Columbia. As a trained investigator and a lawyer, he has a unique set of skills that can help law firms and their clients enhance their ability to maneuver the ever changing field of cyber technology through strategic advice as a co-counsel or subject matter legal expert during cases. Mr. Abrams currently holds a law enforcement commission from the Governor of South Carolina, and regularly assists federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. He earned his B.A. degree from Allegheny College; his M.S. degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons; and his J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from the Charleston School of Law.
