Cari Sheehan is an Of Counsel in Barnes & Thornburg LLP's Indianapolis office and is a member of the litigation department. Ms. Sheehan serves as one of the firm's professional responsibility counsel and focuses her practice on various legal ethics and professional responsibility matters. Ms. Sheehan integrates new attorneys through orientations on legal and business ethics. In addition, she drafts and reviews conflict waivers, engagement letters, outside counsel guidelines and other documents to ensure ethical compliance, as well as serves as a liaison to the firm’s professional liability insurance carrier. Further, she counsels lawyers on bar admission, licensure and continuing legal education. Ms. Sheehan is also a frequent seminar speaker for various organizations and companies on the topics of legal and business ethics. Ms. Sheehan is also an Adjunct Professor at Butler University and the IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law. She teaches courses in business ethics, law, and appellate practice and procedure. Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Ms. Sheehan worked on a variety of litigation matters, including litigation regarding Title IX , employment discrimination, bullying, civil rights, medical malpractice, police misconduct, personal injury, and wrongful death. She is admitted to practice in the state courts in Indiana and Illinois. She is also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Southern districts of Indiana, U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern districts of Illinois, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, U.S. Bankruptcy Courts for the Southern District of Indiana and Northern District of Illinois, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Ms. Sheehan earned her B.A. degree, cum laude, from the University of Southern Indiana and her J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.
