Speaker bio
Brandon D. Saxon
serves as assistant managing partner of Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani, LLP's San Diego office, where he is the chair of the office's employment practice group. He is also the assistant chair of the firm's national employment group. Mr. Saxon's practice focuses on a wide range of civil litigation matters, including the defense of companies and employers in environmental and employment related actions. He has litigated a number of matters to successful resolution in both state and federal courts, and has experience in a variety of heavily regulated practice areas. Mr. Saxon is a member of the Louis M. Welch Inn of Court and the San Diego Bar Association. He earned his B.A. degree from Boston College and his J.D degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. Mr. Saxon is admitted to practice law in California and before the U.S. District Court, Central, Eastern, Northern and Southern districts of California.

James J. S. Johnson
is a sole practitioner in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas, where his law practice is dominated by administrative law, employment law, litigation and tax-exempt organizations; including advising nonprofit corporations regarding education law, personnel law, contracts, copyrights and public safety/disaster law. Mr. Johnson's practice also includes balancing disaster/emergency compliance laws with personal liberties, especially exercising First Amendment-secured liberties, etc; plus speaking at educational seminars and other events on many topics including America's legal history, evidence law, personnel law, nonprofits law and civil liberties. He has served as an active litigator since 1985, including board certification in business bankruptcy law from 1990 thru 2010. Since 1991, Mr. Johnson has taught frequently for Christian colleges in Texas, including LeTourneau University, Dallas Christian College and Concordia University Texas. Since 1996, he has served as a part-time trial judge in Texas on an as-needed basis in nonjury employment law adjudications governed by administrative law statutes and applying the usual rules of evidence, as well as most of the usual Texas rules of civil procedure. These adjudications routinely require managing pretrial matters, as well as presiding at bench trials on the merits, followed by issuing dispositive orders, fact-findings on ultimate issues, and trial record-based recommendations, often with lengthy opinions. Mr. Johnson is admitted in Texas and Colorado, as well as in ten federal courts, and has been admitted pro hac vice to trial courts in 18 other states. As an administrative law practitioner, he has also practiced regulatory law before a variety of federal and state administrative agencies. [DISCLAIMER: Mr. Johnson's opinions in this National Business Institute program are his own, as one who has litigated and adjudicated in many court contexts, and those opinions do not represent the legal views or official positions of any governmental agency or court that he serves.] With post-doctoral certification by the Texas Attorney General's Office, Mr. Johnson has served as a paternity establishment officer, giving expert testimony and certifying forensic documentation for changing birth certificates. For more than 10 years, he has served as a lecturer and expert on evidence, especially as it relates to forensic science and empirical science. A teacher at heart, Mr. Johnson has served as onboard guest lecturer for nine different international cruise ships.

Iris Kristoff
is an attorney at Duggan McHugh Law Corporation located in Sacramento, California. She represents and works with a variety of clients on addressing and resolving labor and employment-related issues. Ms. Kristoff's practice focuses on advising and counseling California and multi-state employers on managing day-to-day employment issues; ranging from wage and hour compliance issues, preparing leave of absence related communications, risk reduction strategies for employee layoffs and terminations, designing and updating employer handbooks and policies, to advising on transactional employment matters, including employee separation agreements and negotiations. She also focuses on helping employers address new developments in state and federal legislation, equal employment opportunity laws and policy, pay equity issues, and "MeToo" related legislation. Ms. Kristoff earned her B.A. degree from Santa Clara University, her M.P.H. degree from Emory University, Rollins School of Public Health and her J.D. degree from Emory University School of Law. During law school, she served as a law clerk for Administrative Law Judge Lana Layton in the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Hearings Unit. Throughout law school and post-graduate school, Ms. Kristoff worked as a policy and research analyst at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and her work was selected for publication in the Journal of Public Health Management and Practice. She is admitted to practice law in California.

Bryce J. Denny
is the owner of Law Office of Bryce Denny, L.L.C., where he primarily practices labor and employment law. He is admitted to practice in both Texas and Louisiana. Mr. Denny was re-appointed in 2017 to a three-year term on the Louisiana State Bar Labor Law Advisory Commission. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Louisiana State Bar Association. Mr. Denny earned his B.A. degree from Austin College in Sherman, Texas and his J.D. degree from Baylor University.
