Myra Barsoum Stockett is a member of Reminger Co., LPA’s Management Group, co-chair of the Insurance Coverage/Bad Faith Practice Group and leader in the Workers’ Compensation Practice Group. She advises employers in all aspects of their Workers’ Compensation programs and employment-related matters. Ms. Stockett represents clients in administrative hearings before the Industrial Commission of Ohio and the adjudicating bodies of the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation. She has extensive experience with Workers’ Compensation appeals into the Court of Common Pleas as well as vast appellate experience, including the handling of mandamus matters. Ms. Stockett also maintains a large docket of employment-related matters outside of Workers' Compensation, including the defense of employers from claims for wrongful termination, violations of Title VII and R.C. 4112, retaliation, and other statutory claims under the FLSA and FMLA. Brian K. Brittain is a partner and one of the founders, and vice-president/treasurer of Ross, Brittain and Schonberg Co., L.P.A. Mr. Brittain oversees the firm's workers' compensation and OSHA practices. Primarily, he supervises the management, defense and administration of workers' compensation matters for more than 1,400 of the firm's clients. He is highly regarded in this field for his unique abilities in aiding both state-funded and self-insured companies to reduce overall workers’ compensation liabilities and expenditures. Since the firm's 1991 beginning, Mr. Brittain has been a driving force behind the development of workers' compensation group rating plans. He oversees all actuarial analyses for group projections and directs the claims administration for all new group members. Mr. Brittain regularly conducts seminars relating to OSHA workplace safety and workers' compensation matters, and has authored numerous articles relating to the current Ohio workers' compensation statute and potential future changes. Amy Flowers is a labor and employment attorney with Ice Miller, LLP. She is in Ice Miller’s workplace solutions group, where she focuses her practice on advocating for employers in workers’ compensation disputes at the administrative and court levels. Employers rely on her to provide advice that helps them avoid workers' compensation and employment challenges and defend them in related litigation matters. Ms. Flowers represents self-insured and state-funded employers before the Ohio Industrial Commission and Common Pleas Court. Prior to practicing law, Ms. Flowers sat on Athens City Council and served as a court bailiff in Franklin County Commons Pleas Court. Richard Hernandez is an attorney with Perez Morris. He is a workers’ compensation defense attorney with more than 30 years’ experience. Mr. Hernandez has represented self-insured and state-funded private employers, state agencies, and public and private universities in proceedings before the Industrial Commission of Ohio and at all levels of court within the state of Ohio. He has represented national trucking companies, major hospital organizations, nursing home consortiums, national utilities, and industry-leading retailers and restaurants. He routinely advises on workers’ compensation program administration, company policy drafting, including return-to-work and workplace safety policy, and effective risk management strategy. Lauren Kemp is an attorney with Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP. Ms. Kemp is in Taft’s employment and labor relations practice group, with a focus on workers' compensation and employment litigation. She represents self-insured and state-funded employers during all stages of their workers’ compensation matters, including claims investigation and management, administrative hearings, litigation, appeals on mandamus before the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Ohio, and settlement. Ms. Kemp has successfully defended cases at trial and in mandamus actions. Prior to joining Taft, Ms. Kemp was an assistant attorney general with the Ohio Attorney General’s office, Workers’ Compensation Section. In this role, she provided legal counsel to the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (“BWC”) and the Industrial Commission of Ohio, and handled all aspects of litigation. She continues to serve as outside counsel to the BWC for complex cases. Rebecca Kopp Levine is an attorney in the law firm of Porter Wright Morris & Arthur LLP. Ms. Levine focuses her practice on defending and managing workers’ compensation claims, including allegations of violations of specific safety rules and permanent and total disability claims. She represents employers throughout Ohio before the Industrial Commission and the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation. Her practice also includes arguing on behalf of employers with rating, classification, and premium issues before the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Adjudicating Committee and the Self-Insured Review Panel. Bethanie Murray is an attorney with Reminger Co., LPA. Ms. Murray defends self-insured and state-funded employers at administrative hearings at the Ohio Industrial Commission, as well as in court.
