James W Balmer is a founding partner of Falsani, Balmer, Peterson & Balmer, where he has represented thousands of people in all kinds of litigation, including jury trials, workers' compensation trials and hearings, Social Security disability hearings, and appeals in those areas. He has handled wrongful death, car crash, slip-and-fall, worksite injuries, defective product claims, dog attack, liquor liability claims, and other kinds of bodily injury matters; as well as insurance coverage disputes, defamation claims, probate, and trust disputes. Mr. Balmer is admitted to practice before all Minnesota and Wisconsin courts, both state and federal, and has tried cases throughout both states. He has argued cases before the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago and the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals based in St. Louis. Mr. Balmer has been selected as a Minnesota Super Lawyer annually beginning in 1998. He has been certified as a civil trial specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and by the Minnesota State Bar Association. Mr. Balmer has been honored as an advocate by the American Board of Trial Advocacy. He earned both his B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Minnesota.
Peyton Engel is an attorney with Hurley Burish, S.C., where he helps individuals and businesses with civil litigation, represents licensed professionals, including attorneys in disciplinary matters, and provides consulting and expert witness services in matters where digital evidence is at issue. Mr. Engel's particular area of interest is in information technology, security, and privacy. He has extensive practical experience with information technology and compliance (primarily with respect to HIPAA and the PCI Data Security Standard), and has assisted attorneys with technology aspects of both civil and criminal matters. Before joining the firm, Mr. Engel worked for more than 18 years in information technology, with 16 years of that time spent specialized in network and information security. He holds the CISSP certification, and the Wisconsin Law Journal recently recognized him as one of the three best forensic experts in the state. He is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Dane County Bar Association. Mr. Engel earned his B.A. degree from Grinnell College; his M.A. degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison; and his J.D. degree, magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, from the University of Wisconsin Law School.
James M Susag is a shareholder with Larkin Hoffman Daly & Lindgren Ltd., in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Since 1995, his commercial and real estate litigation trial practice has focused on franchise; dealer and contract disputes; and real estate, construction, and land use. He has extensive first chair litigation experience representing clients in numerous jury and court trials, domestic and international arbitrations, administrative proceedings, and appeals. Mr. Susag is a member of the Minnesota State, Hennepin County, and Ramsey County bar associations; the American Bar Association's Forum on Franchising; and the International Franchise Association. He is admitted to practice in state and federal courts in Minnesota and Wisconsin, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th, 4th, and 8th circuits. Mr. Susag earned his B.A. degree, summa cum laude, from the University of St. Thomas; and his J.D. degree, summa cum laude, from William Mitchell College of Law.
