RONALD FATOULLAH is the principal of the New York based law firm of Ronald Fatoullah & Associates, where he practices in the areas of elder law, estate planning, Medicaid planning, trusts, wills, guardianships, and estate administration. Mr. Fatoullah is the current president of the New York Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He also serves on the Executive Committee of the Elder Law and Special Needs Section of the New York State Bar Association, the Executive Council of AARP New York, and currently co-chairs the Board of the Alzheimer’s Association Long Island Chapter. Mr. Fatoullah is a partner of AdvicePeriod, a financial planning and wealth management firm where he focuses on strategies to assist high net-worth individuals. He is a fellow of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Mr. Fatoullah earned his B.A. degree, summa cum laude, from the State University of New York at Buffalo and his J.D. degree from St. John's University School of Law.
JAMES L. KOEWLER JR. is the founder of The Koewler Law Firm, where his main areas of practice include elder law, special needs and Medicaid planning, and Veterans disability. He is a member of the Ohio State, American, Cleveland Metropolitan, and Akron bar associations. Mr. Koewler is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He earned his B.S. degree from Purdue University and his J.D. degree from Indiana University.
TIMOTHY F. McCURDY practices elder law, fiduciary litigation, and probate law at Lashly & Baer, P.C., in St. Louis. He is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Missouri chapter of NAELA (Education Committee). Mr. McCurdy speaks at numerous CLE programs, and also provides seminars on elder law to various organizations. He earned his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa and his J.D. degree from Notre Dame Law School.
G. MARK SHALLOWAY practices as president and shareholder with his father in the firm of Shalloway & Shalloway, P.A., concentrating his practice on special needs trusts. He is a consultant or co-counsel for plaintiffs’ and defendants' lawyers, carriers, and third-party administrators regarding tort settlements and recoveries. Mr. Shalloway also consults and testifies for estate planning and family law attorneys. The recognized specialty area of elder law has always required attorney fluency in the area of public benefits (Medicaid, Medicare), including special needs trusts. Mr. Shalloway is among the first 135 certified elder law attorneys in the nation certified by the National Elder Law Foundation. He is a member of the charter class of attorneys board certified in elder law by The Florida Bar. Mr. Shalloway served as president of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), voted as a NAELA fellow, and received NAELA's Outstanding Achievement Award for his work with the Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys. He is a member of the Stetson Elder Law Advisory Board and has also lectured for the National Absolute Litigators Conference and the NAELA Advanced Educational Institute, for which he chaired. Mr. Shalloway also chaired The Florida Bar's Elder Law Section's Medicaid Committee. As part of his bar and academy work, he provides technical assistance to the Florida Legislature and Congress on elder legislation. The late Florida Governor Lawton Chiles and Governor Jeb Bush have appointed Mr. Shalloway to serve as the attorney on the state's Long-Term Care Ombudsman Council, Palm Beach District. He is a member of the adjunct faculty at Palm Beach Community College, lecturing on estates and administration and teaches the Palm Beach County Guardian Education course. Mr. Shalloway earned his B.A. degree from the University of Florida and his J.D. degree from Nova University.
