CARLIE E. BACON is an associate attorney with Ogletree Deakins Nash Smoak & Stewart PC, in the Portland office, where her practice includes a variety of labor and employment law matters, including wrongful discharge, employment discrimination, and unfair labor practice issues. MATTHEW F. DENLEY is a shareholder and litigator at Cummins Goodman Denley & Vickers PC, in both the civil litigation department and the administrative law department. In addition to workers’ compensation insurance defense work, he emphasizes employment law and related regulatory matters. Mr. Denley graduated from Willamette University College of Law, where he received a J.D. degree; and earned magna cum laude honors with a B.A. degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. HEATHER FOSSITY, an attorney at Barran Liebman LLP, defends employers and management in a variety of employment matters, while serving as proactive counsel to guide her clients through important management decisions aimed to address legal concerns before they arise. With experience from government and in-house perspectives, Ms. Fossity has a comprehensive understanding of the unique processes involved in employment law from both a federal and local standpoint. She graduated with her B.A. degree in social and cultural analysis from New York University; and received her J.D. degree, cum laude, from Lewis & Clark Law School.
JOSH M. GOLDBERG is an attorney at Barran Liebman LLP, where he represents management in a variety of employment and labor relations matters. He takes a collaborative, hands-on approach to counseling employers and tailors his advice to clients’ specific goals and needs. Before joining Barran Liebman LLP, Mr. Goldberg developed an extensive background in resolving employment and business disputes in state and federal court. As a judicial clerk to the Honorable Jerome LaBarre and Andrew Lavin at the Multnomah County Circuit Court, he managed 20 trials. He also served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Ann Aiken and Mark Clarke of the U.S. District Court of Oregon. Prior to law school, Mr. Goldberg developed a knack for anticipating risk and crafting creative solutions advancing the policy initiatives of Secretary of State Kate Brown, now Oregon’s governor. He graduated with a B.A. degree in Political Science from Williams College and a J.D. degree from Lewis & Clark Law School. Throughout his legal education, Mr. Goldberg remained steadfastly committed to community service. He received community service awards, co-founded the Lewis & Clark Law School’s Law Student Diversity Action Committee, helped businesses navigate complex civil litigation at the Western Resources Legal Clinic, and was an associate editor for the Environmental Law Review. Mr. Goldberg was also inducted into the Cornelius Honor Society in recognition of his distinguished scholarship, leadership, and contribution to Lewis & Clark Law School.Â
NAOMI HASLITT is a partner in the law firm of Miller Nash Graham & Dunn LLP, where she serves on the firm’s employment law and labor relations and education law practice teams. She advises and defends public and private employers in all areas of employment and labor law. She regularly counsels employers on day-to-day personnel issues, and provides training to managers and employers. Ms. Haslitt’s practice focuses on defending claims for employment discrimination, disability discrimination and accommodation, wrongful discharge, and wage and hour, as well as other tort claims, in litigation and administrative agency proceedings. She also represents both private and public employers on traditional labor issues, including arbitrating grievances, addressing unfair-labor-practice charges, and advising on collective bargaining agreements and the collective bargaining process. Her practice also focuses on advising public and private higher education institutions and public school districts on employment, accommodation issues arising under state and federal law, student, and other federal and state compliance issues. Ms. Haslitt is a member of the Oregon State Bar, Federal Bar Association, Multnomah Bar Association, Oregon Women Lawyers, and the Oregon Minority Lawyers Association. PAUL M. OSTROFF is a shareholder at the Portland office of Lane Powell PC. He provides advice and counsel to employers in all phases of labor and employment law, including collective bargaining, labor arbitration, union organizing campaigns, employment discrimination, discipline and discharge, wage and hour, employee benefits, drafting of policies and handbooks, ADA, FMLA, employment contracts, covenants not to compete, and occupational safety. He represents and advises clients in a variety of industries, such as retail, manufacturing, software, computer technology, transportation, health care, public utilities, hospitality, financial services, apparel and the public sector. Mr. Ostroff regularly represents employers before federal and state courts and administrative agencies, including the National Labor Relations Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries, the California Fair Employment and Housing Commission, and the U.S. Department of Labor.
