JAMES J. BROWN has been the director of sales and marketing for Bock & Clark, Inc. since July of 2014. He has been with the company since 1983 working within all aspects of the survey business. Prior to his current position, he served as director of Bock & Clark’s National Surveyors Network for 15 years overseeing, managing and developing the staff and project teams. Mr. Brown has been involved with the National Network since 1994 where he has managed hundreds of projects and coordinated and reviewed thousands of surveys. He started his career as a field technician, drafter and then manager of the Mortgage Location Services Division. He was instrumental in opening three branch offices in Ohio and developing other offices in other states. He has spent the last several years working on business development with sales and marketing divisions. Mr. Brown has offered presentations on ALTA/ACSM land title surveys and survey review to hundreds of law firms, bar associations, CLE providers, corporations and law schools across the country. He has been a co-author for the last several versions of the Bock & Clark, Inc., Handbook for ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys. He holds a bachelor's degree in education from Kent State University.
JOHN D. GILLESPIE is a partner in the law firm of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP. He has extensive experience representing developers and investors on all aspects of commercial real estate development and joint venture formation. Mr. Gillespie regularly represents developers and investors in connection with financings, and small businesses in connection with their corporate needs. He also has substantial experience representing buyers and sellers of real estate on large portfolio transactions, including complex ground and air rights lease transactions. Mr. Gillespie regularly handles complex title and survey issues. He earned his B.A. degree, cum laude, from Ohio Wesleyan University and his J.D. degree from The Ohio State University.
WILLIAM L. LOVELAND is the owner of Loveland Law, L.L.C., where he practices in the areas of real estate transactions, development planning, condominium creation, zoning (working for both private and governmental entities), estate planning, probate, professional licensing and discipline, and civil litigation. Mr. Loveland has lectured for National Business Institute on numerous real estate law subjects, including zoning, zoning litigation, condominium law, the law governing homeowner's associations, quiet title actions, title insurance, and ethics. Mr. Loveland is past chairman of the Litigation Practice Institute, the president of the Joseph Fletcher Lawyers Ethics Conference, president of The Ross Foundation, and a current active member of the Professional Ethics and the Admissions committees of the Columbus Bar Association. Mr. Loveland was recently inducted into the Dublin School District Hall of Fame due to his work as a community advocate. He is a member of the Columbus, Ohio State and American bar associations. Mr. Loveland earned his B.A. degree from Denison University and his J.D. degree, with honors, from Ohio State University School of Law.
RAY R. MICHALSKI is a sole practitioner in Lancaster. He has been an attorney for more than 35 years and practices in the areas of residential and commercial real estate, including zoning, annexation, litigation, and transactional work. Mr. Michalski is a past president of the Ohio State Bar Association and has lectured to the Ohio State Bar Association on real estate issues. He also is a past president of the Hocking County Bar Association, a member of the Fairfield County Bar Association, and a fellow of the Ohio State Bar Foundation. Mr. Michalski earned his B.A. degree from The Ohio State University and his J.D. degree from Ohio Northern University - Claude W. Pettit College of Law.
