HON. SCOTT E. ELSWICK is a judge for 10th Circuit Family Court (Boone and Lincoln Counties) sitting primarily in Hamlin, West Virginia. Prior to taking the bench in 2009, Judge Elswick was an attorney maintaining a general civil practice including family law and litigation. Judge Elswick earned his B.A. degree from West Virginia University and his J.D. degree from the West Virginia University College of Law. HON. MARY ELLEN GRIFFITH is a 12th Judicial Circuit family court judge. She specialized in the representation of children prior to becoming a family court judge and has lectured on this. Judge Griffith earned her B.A. degree at Roger Williams University and her J.D. degree at West Virginia University. She is a member and past president of the State Bar Commission on Children and the Law, and also is a member of the National Association of Counsel for Children. HON. MIKE KELLY has served as a Kanawha County Family Court judge since 2001. Originally appointed by Governor Bob Wise, he was elected to a six year term in 2002 and was unopposed for an eight year term beginning in 2009. Judge Kelly has presided over more than 14,000 divorce, child support, paternity, domestic violence and guardianship cases. He has been chief judge for the 11th Family Court Circuit and president of the West Virginia Family Court Association. Judge Kelly was recently named a recipient of the Governor's Civil Rights Day Award for 2007, and in 2006 he was recognized by the YWCA Resolve Family Abuse Program for his "pursuit of justice on behalf of victims of domestic violence and their children." Judge Kelly was admitted to the practice of law in 1976 and, prior to his appointment to the bench, specialized in employment and civil rights cases, and was frequently called upon by the West Virginia Human Rights Commission as a neutral administrate law judge to hear and decide discrimination cases. He is a regular presenter at legal seminars. HON. K. BRUCE LAZENBY is a judge in the 13th Circuit Family Court. Prior to taking the bench in 2008, Judge Lazenby practiced law in southern West Virginia for more than 30 years. He was twice elected prosecuting attorney of Raleigh County and previously served as family law master and magistrate. HON. D. MARK SNYDER is a judge in the11th Circuit Family Court. HON. LOUISE G. STATON is a Family Court judge of the 13th Family Court Circuit. Judge Staton was first appointed to the bench on July 1, 1994, by Gov. Gaston Caperton. She served as family law master, being reappointed once by the circuit judges in Raleigh and Wyoming counties. When the West Virginia Legislature created the family court in 2001, she was appointed to be a family court judge in Raleigh and Wyoming counties. She was subsequently elected to that position in 2002. Judge Staton assisted in crafting the legislation necessary to create the family court system as well as serving on advisory committees regarding the implementation of shared parenting, the income shares child support formula and the transfer of jurisdiction of domestic violence to family court. She is a past president of the West Virginia Family Court Association and currently serves on the Executive Committee of the West Virginia Family Judicial Association. Judge Staton received her B.A. in social work from Alderson-Broaddus College in 1981 and her law degree from the West Virginia University College of Law in 1984. MODERATOR - C. PAGE HAMRICK III is a sole practitioner in Charleston, West Virginia, where his practice is concentrated in the areas of divorce law, tax and corporate estate law. He has served as a Family Law Master, as Assistant Attorney General, as counsel to the West Virginia Legislature and as a hearing officer for numerous state agencies. Mr. Hamrick is a Certified Public Accountant and frequently writes and speaks on state and federal taxation topics as they relate to divorce. He has testified as an expert witness in matters involving federal and state tax, financial analysis and real estate. Mr. Hamrick regularly teaches tax and law courses at Marshall University and has taught accounting at West Virginia University-Tech. He earned his B.S. in Accounting and J.D. degrees from West Virginia University and his M.B.A. degree from the Marshall University (formerly WVCOGS). Mr. Hamrick is a member of the West Virginia State Bar, the American Association of Attorney-CPAs and the West Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants.
